Easy Arena Battle Wins

There's a little glitch in this game that allows quick and easy wins for any battle in any Trotmobile Arena in the game. With a bit of practice, you'll be able to do this no matter what, as long as your Trobmobile has the right parts in order to hold up an enemy long enough.

So, you may notice that when you throw an enemy at a wall, he or she will sort of bounce off of it. If you're able to position yourself in a way that the enemy will bounce and land on your head, you have the chance to defeat the enemy in a few seconds.

If you get the enemy Trot to land on your head, and are able to balance in there for long enough, the enemy will just blow up. Just like that. In only a few seconds. But, if the Trot falls off of your head before it blows up, it'll take no damage at all - outside of the damage it received from hitting the wall.

If you're able to get this little trick figured out, you won't ever have any problem winning any Arena Battles again. You can even use this trick in the UTC.

The Killer Elephants' Boss

During the first part of the game, you'll eventually have to pay a visit to the Killer Elephants' base. As you're there, you'll eventually get caught, and the Boss will challenge you to a battle (or you'll challenge him, depending on dialogue choices).

Winning this battle is NOT MANDATORY.

You can win or lose. Either way, the story will continue.

But, you should try to win. Why?

Because, if you win, you'll receive an Elephant Grill. The only one in the game. This is the one and only time you'll have a chance to get this grill, so use it to your advantage.

You can try saving at the Parking Cone right next to Kane, at the entrance to the Carpet Mill. That way, if you lose, you can restart your PS2 and not have to walk as far to get back to the base.

Frozen Time

At certain points in the game, time will not advance until you do a certain thing. The first example of this happening is in Nefroburg - right after the Globetrotters get on the train, and Connie suggests you go and visit with Dr. Nutmeg.

Time will not advance, no matter how many times you leave or enter a town, until you visit him.

There are plenty of ways to use this to your advantage - the main way is to make some money.

The Wagtail Canyon, right outside of Nefroburg, is home to fossils. If you collect these, you can sell them to the Museum Curator, Belmundo. Normally, each time you leave or enter Nefroburg, time advances to the next 'section' of a day (Morning, Noon, Evening, Night), but because of the game's coding - it won't do this.

You can use this to your advantage to make a lot of money - though it'll still take some time, considering the amount of walking you'll have to do.

But it's an easy way to make a ton of money at the beginning of the game, opening you up to many upgrade options that will be coming up later in the story.

The First Four Questions

When you're first starting a new game, you'll be asked for different questions. Overall, they hardly affect the game at all. But there are certain things that they will affect, based on your answer.

The question "What is your favourite time of day" will affect when you get the most money/tips for playing on the street. So, if you select 'evening,' expect to receive more money if you play on the streets at that time of day.

The question "What is your most important outfit choice" doesn't seem to have an affect on anything. Not that I've noticed, at least.

The question "If you found some money, what would you do with it?" will only affect you if you choose the 'return it to charity' option. By doing so, you'll receive more money in the Charity Box front frame attachment. Selecting any of the other three options do not affect you.

The question "If your significant other was crying, what would you do?" only affects what happens in the final cutscene of the game. Whichever option you choose, say 'quietly hold her/him close,' will be done by you in the last cutscene - meaning Vanilla will quietly hold Coriander.

And that's it. The basics of what each of those questions can change in the overall game.

The Tutorial Plate

If you're the type of person who wants "100% Completion" of a game - then there's one set of items that you'll need to collect in Steambot Chronicles.

The License Plates.

There are about 30 license plates in this game - one of them, the Default Plate (white background, read circle and horizontal line through it) is given to you automatically. You start with it.

The second plate that you're able to get is called the Tutorial Plate. The only way you can get this is by going to the 'Tutorial' from the main menu. If you play through it, you'll have a choice at the end to either start a new game with the plate, or a start a new game without the plate.

There is no other legit way to get the Tutorial Plate in the game, unless you actually play through the tutorial before you start a game.

In short - Do the tutorial and then choose 'Start a New Game with the Plate Earned', instead of going straight to 'New Game,' if you want the Tutorial Plate.
