Introduction to Suggestions and Problems:

Welcome to Suggestions and Problems. This is where, as the name states, you can make a suggestion to improve Supercheats as a whole, the Forums themselves, or any other individual portion of Rich's masterpiece. Before doing so however, you will need to know a few basic things.
Since Supercheats has been around for a long time, we've seen members (new and old) ask questions that tend to reoccur throughout the lifetime of the Forums. These, and others, will be answered. Making threads that ask these questions will simply result in them being locked. Therefore, it is important to read this thread, long as it may be, in order to find out how things work around here.

FAQ

I

Who is/are:

The Upper Staff:

Administrator Team

Rich - Rich is known as Team Supercheats. He is the founder of the site, main Root Admin, and the ultimate power on Supercheats. What Rich says goes, therefore it's best to not disrespect him.

Dennis - Dennis is one of our more elusive admins. He posts fairly frequently in his favorite forums but is mainly here to contribute in ridiculous amounts to the main site. He is the second Root admin, Rich's brother in-law, and goes by the account name of "Sanzano". Not a lot is to be said about our beloved secondary root admin, other than he does more for Supercheats off-site than he does on it, processing our submissions, contacts, etc. and therefore making sure that our submissions remain free of bogus/bad information.

Will/William/Crossy- Will is currently our oldest running non-root admin; subtly dealing with issues that many don't know about. Cross Stinger, as he is known, brought many of our site-wide rules to life, and is probably the second most elusive Admin.

Mark - Mark is our resident programmer and website designer. He can be seen under the name "testuser". You will see many jokes and references to him, though you will never actually see him post. Members 0 through 14 belong to him, and served as early test accounts to make sure posting, applying for moderator positions, moderating and editing all personal details worked properly. Mark is the one who makes the site run how it does, and all visible coding you will see is very likely Mark at work, doing the magic he does best. Seeing as he's our only programmer and we can;t having him dying of exhaustion, he can only do so much in such a short time. Our to-do list is currently being worked on by him, and may take some time.

Nikki - Our first female Administrator. Going by the username of balthiersbit, she was promoted to Administrator in February of 2012 during the Community Restart. She's always around to give a bit of good advice to those who want it. In her spare time, she lurks the SuperCheats forums doing dino related things.

Forgoten_Scars - Who the hell let this guy be Admin?

Ex-Admins:

Randy - Known as "Speedt". Promoted to admin level as of May 2009. Demoted to member in February 2010 for internal reasons. It is likely that you will have him referenced to every once in a while, so best to know who he is.

Dave/Aeshma- Dave was our single most active Admin, going by the name Youkou, and despite not being a root admin, he used to be our top-rule enforcer. Dave officially left supercheats April 2nd 2009. He pops in every once in a while and will be referenced to, so its best you know who he is.

Chris/Tank - Promoted to admin May 2009. An active staff member who has helped the site much throughout his time here. You may see him under the username "X__x" He was an active admin, whom resigned on a positive note. We hope to see him pop in every once in a while.

Volke/Nintendo_Dude - A member promoted to admin level long ago along with Cross Stinger and Youkou. When he was here he impacted the site very positively, but took his leave a few years ago. He pops in every once in a while, and is a pretty cool guy.

Super Moderator Team:
Test/Testy/TV/TV101 - TestVirus101
Eli/Fox - Axionas
Liz/Z/Lilly - Ninetailed Fox
Mike - steelersrock01

What is/are:

Moderators : Moderators, also known as Mods, enforce rules on a forum-wide scale. They have the power to Close, Move, Pin, and Delete threads, as well as Delete posts, all inside the forum/s they moderate. A moderator will report any trouble in the Mod Squad forum if he/she is unable to act on it his/herself so that the case may be handled by a Super Moderator or Administrator. Moderators know what they're talking about most of the time, so it's best to listen to them; they got their position for a reason.

Super Moderators : Super Moderators, Super Mods or Smods have the same power as moderators, but on a site-wide basis, along with the ability to ban for up to one (1) week and run IP cross reference checks. (Currently only in T&C) They have more authority than regular moderators, even if it is in the forum that they moderate. If it comes to a question of who is right, listening to a Super Moderator will keep you out of trouble most often. The smods take part in general site management along with the admins, so if you have any questions or suggestions, we'd love to hear it!

Administrators : An administrator, or admin is the highest staff rank on supercheats. There are two forms of an admin, Root and Forum. Root administrators are the founders of supercheats, they have every single ability you can imagine basically. The Forum admins have the ability to ban as long as they wish, edit signatures, check IP's, create forum hubs, and edit posts, along with every ability a super moderator would have. They have no power over anything on the main site, only forums.

Posts: A post is a piece of text, submitted and instantly posted on the boards. Posting in a forum is encouraged, as long as you remain on topic.

Threads: A thread is a collection of posts, or a place where posts can be made. Every thread should have a specific topic assigned to it. Veering too far from the topic will result in a warning. A second offense will result in the thread being locked.

Forums: Forum is to thread as thread is to post. Forums are where new topics can be made. Forums have a more general theme assigned to them, and cannot be created by any other than an Admin. The threads inside the forums must be in some obvious way related to the forum's theme. Disregarding this will result in either a movement or a lock. Movement brings the thread to it&8217;s appropriate forum, where it is most related to the theme. Locking will stop any further attempts to post in the thread, for a reason.

Contacts: Contacts is the easiest and fastest way to obtain Dennis' attention regarding important matters. It's like sending a miniature email to Dennis right through Supercheats. You will most likely get a response within a few days, assuming the Contact Form was filled out properly, and the topic was worth addressing.

Kudos: Kudos is a ranking system viewable in a person's bio as a set of colored boxes. The fuller the bar is, the higher your kudos is. Kudos represents the amount and quality of your submissions, as well as the frequency of your video game board posts. To increase your kudos, make good submissions, and make contribution posts to a particular or several video game forums. The kudos system is offline at the moment, pending total removal. This section may be removed from the guide soon. KUDOS ARE CURRENTLY INACTIVE

Post-Quota: A post quota is a limit placed on new members for the purpose of limiting the risk of spam and flame. Once a member has been with us for a week, their post quota is removed, and they will be able to post freely.

Edit-Quota: An edit quota is a limit placed on the amount of times you can edit your posted information. After 15 or so edits, your quota will stop you from making any more adjustments to your posted information. This is not removed after any period of time.

Rank:Your rank in the stats is to the points you've accumulated from the quality of your submissions.

III

How do I:

Make a submission:

Click on "Submit" in the top right corner. Select the game you want to submit for.

A list of option of what you can submit will pop up. Some of them should include 'Cheat', 'Hint', 'Review', and so forth.

Choose the one you want to submit to.

Insert your cheat and a title for it and press 'Submit'.

A message will come up saying your submission has been sent it also gives you the option of submitting another cheat/hint/code/etc.

It will take about 24 hours for you to get a message back that your submission has been suggested or accepted.

For every submission accepted, you gain points depending on how long your submission is. If your are very detailed, you'll eventually get the Pro Submitter Award. If you land on the Expert list of a game (to do this you must have 10 or more points in the certain game or land on the top 5 list of the game) you will get a Bronze Expert medal after being on the top 5 Expert list of 5 different games. For Silver you need, I believe, 10. And for Gold, 30.

Please keep in mind that you subs will be viewed by the public on the interent so please provide correct cheats. Wrong ones could lead to a decrease of visitors on the site.

Report a Submission:

To report a submission for review/removal, simply hit the report button and fill out the reason for the report, as shown here. All reports are filed and sent off to the Root Admins, do NOT create topics in S&P specifically to report submissions, they will be closed and you will be told to submit a report.

Upload an avatar:

1) Go to www.tinypic.com or any other free image host (I used Tinypic as example)

2) Press the browse button and use the scroll button and look for the avatar you want to upload, then click it once.

3) Press Upload

4) Copy the direct link code.

5) Go back to SC and on the top right section of your screen click on "My Account" Then click on "Avatar" on the menu on the left.

6) Here you will see an empty box, paste your URL you copied in here, change the size in the small boxes to the actual size of your avatar.

7) Press the upload button and it will now be visible as your avatar on the forums...and you're done.

Important: You are only able to upload jpg, gif and png images with a max file size of 100KB as well as a max dimension size of 100px width and 100px height

Upload a signature:

1) Go to http://www.tinypic.com/ and press the scroll button and look for the image you want to upload.

2) Press Upload Image and it should start uploading and a new screen will appear what brings us to...

3) Here you will see three choices; HTML, [IMG], Link ...press once in the [IMG] box and it should highlight. Click right and copy this.

4) Go back to http://forums.supercheats.com and press "Forum Settings"

5) Now you will see a big empty box where you can write something. There you paste the code you copied before in step 3.

6) Press Update and your image in your signature will now appear.

Important: The image can't be bigger than 500 width and 200 height, nor can it exceed 200kb in file size or 400 characters

Also note that the Signature and Avatar rules found here will determine whether or not your signature and Avatar remain in place.

Check if my signature is below 200kb:

Right click the image, and click Properties. A box full of facts about your image will appear, among which will be its file size.

Become a Moderator:

Moderators are normally the first-responders to any forum based issues. They manage the majority of the forum, because of this we make it very hard to become one. As of now, there is no way to apply for a moderator position. A currently existing super moderator or admin may suggest to the rest of the currently existing upper staff that a certain member may be able to serve as a moderator of a forum and may initiate a vote between the smods and admins on his or her promotion. If the vote passes, the member will be offered the position by private message. Any requests for moderator positions (whether or not it be for you) that do not come with the pre-approval of a super mod or admin will be dismissed.

Things we look for in a good forum moderator:
  • Good attitude
  • Positive influence on the community
  • Good history with the site (No or little need for bans, warnings, etc.)
  • Responsible, shows knowledge of forum rules & guidelines
  • Active contributor to whichever forum they are being considered for.
  • Ability to act well using common sense within 'grey areas'.

Become a Teams Moderator:

Teams moderators are chosen rarely and by currently working teams staff. A member who the staff decides would be able to moderate Teams will be suggested in private by a staff member and subsequently voted on, just like a moderator of a forum.

Things we look for in a good T&C moderator:
  • Good attitude
  • Positive influence on the community
  • Good history with the site (No or little need for bans, warnings, etc.)
  • Responsible, shows knowledge of T&C rules & guidelines
  • Active contributor to whichever forum they are being considered for.
  • Ability to act well using common sense within 'grey areas'.
  • A good level of fun-loving and leniency; what the T&C is all about!

Become a Super Moderator:

Becoming a Super Moderator is difficult. In order to become one, you must first become an exceptional moderator. After a while (quite a long time), if your skills have caught the eye of the admins/super mods, Rich may choose to promote you to Super Moderator status.

Become an Admin:

You don&8217;t. Plain and simple.

Report A Member:

To report a member, contact a staff member (via ways such as email, MSN, or bio comments) with the reason, name of the reported member and last but not least, you must provide links to where the problem occurs (no proof = no case). Take note only to report serious matters such as flaming, advertising, excessive spamming, inappropriate posting such as nudity and racism.

Make my words into a link?

What you are referring to is called BBCode, and is a basic way of giving text basic functions, such as changing size, font, color, or linking. An experienced member of ours wrote an entire tutorial on the subject, which can be found here.

Make my signature into a link?

A very simple process combining what we have learned so far.Place [IMG] tags around the URL of the image as per normal, and create a separate set of tags around the IMG tags. These tags are to be [url] tags, and as per normal, the first set in the tag is to have the link while the last tag merely closes the code.

Example:

[*url=http://forums.supercheats.com/forumrules.php][*img]http://i39.tinypic.com/2vij9ls.png[/img*][/url*] (remove the asterisks)

My Signature was changed to some "You're sig is too big" thing, was I hacked!? And why is my sig locked?!

No you were not hacked, if you receive the following image in your signature it means that a moderator reported something in your signature space that violated our signature rules, most likely that your sig is over the 500x200 Image dimension size limit, or the file is over the 200KB file size limit, and an administrator removed/replaced your signature. If your signature was locked it means you've broken our image regulations too many times and as a result your signature privileges have been removed for an amount of time, just wait until it unlocks itself.

I submitted a new bio, but it's not appearing!
A bio takes 1-2 days for it to be approved by a Root Admin, just wait.

Use HTML?

Here is a very useful guide to HTML created by our member, v-gamer.

End my team?

Close all the threads, as the team leader, and don't post anymore. Nobody else will be able to post, and you can just forget about the team. Please do not ask to have your team deleted.

Use the New BBCode?

Here's a manually written BBCode guide by myself. We've also got one located underneath the BBCodes themselves in each post box.

The video tags can be used for either youtube or supercheats videos, simply insert the video tags at the sides of the url like so:

This can also be used as [*list=num] or [*list=alpha] for numbered or alphabetical lists.

Get a custom title underneath my name?

Custom titles are available for members whom have acquired either 1,500 forum posts or 3,000 Teams & Clans posts. There is no other way of getting custom titles. Once you get the required number of posts, go to the forum settings where you'll see a new 'Custom Title' category. There, simply input the custom title you would like. Take note that you may only change your title once every 30 days, so pick something you like because you're going to be sticking with it for a while! Any requests to remove or alter a title will not be honored and the thread closed. Abuse of the title feature to post inappropriate or obscene rule-breaking content will result in the loss of this privilege and a possible ban from Supercheats.

Take note that you also may not claim 'official' titles of any sort such as, "Moderator, Admin, SC Rep, CoD MW2 Champ, Xbox Division Leader" unless you actually meet the prerequisites for such titles. For instance, to use the 'CoD MW2 Champ' title you'd have to win an official staff sponsored Modern Warfare 2 tournament.

Contact a Staff Member?
The best way for a member to settle a dispute they have with another member or staff member is to personal message or visitor message the appropriate staff member through their bio. Remember that any PMs/VMs sent are managed at the sole discretion of the staff member you send it to. By no means are they required to reply to you or give you an answer that you like. Any topics created asking for a reply to a PM/VM sent will be closed instantly. Any abuse of a staff members' bio will result disciplinary action being taken. It is best to PM/VM active staff members whom you know can relate in some way to the problem you are having.

Contact a Moderator if you have an issue with a member's post in a forum that has moderators assigned to it. Take care to only contact the moderator that has power over the forum you are having trouble in. A list of moderators is available at the top of every forum page.

Contact a Super Moderator/Administrator if you have an issue in a forum that does not have any moderators, or if you wish to bring the decision of a moderator into question. Our active Super Mods/Admins are knowledgeable in all forms of site info, so they will be able to answer pretty much anything, or reference you to the correct person who will be able to.

Contact a Root Admin if you have an issue with something on the main site such as a submission, a web page, etc. Do NOT contact Root Admins about instituting a ban (Appealing for the removal of a ban is fine) on a member, or any function that can be provided to you by a lower rank.

3

Suggestions and Problems: The Rules Themselves

Before actually creating a topic with a suggestion, problem or concern, read
this. This is our regularly updated to-do list. Please do not suggest anything that is already written on here. It's just like making a duplicate topic.

Don't make duplicate topics. If somebody has already reported the glitch, don&8217;t report it again.

You may find your topic closed at some point. Some glitches are reported in the staff forum&8230; If it&8217;s there, we won&8217;t blame you for making one in this forum, due to the fact that you can&8217;t see it as a duplicate of the other topic. But since the people in charge of fixing these glitches (the admins, see above) are already informed via Staff, there is no need for this topic to exist.

You may not create a topic asking for the deactivation (ban) of any of your own accounts just for the hell of it. If you have a strong reason for doing so, then you may send a contact to one of our Root Admins and if they deem it necessary they will deactivate your other accounts. Under no circumstances are these topics to be created in Suggestions&Problems.

You're not allowed to create topics in Suggestions and Problems regarding issues you might have with other members, whether or not they be staff. If you wish to file a complaint against a member of Supercheats.com you must either talk to a Supercheats Staff member so that they may take the proper action (which will usually involve the member being reviewed in the staff forum) or you may send a contact form to one of our Root Administrators with a link/proof and description of your case.

Please don&8217;t make topics asking questions that are already answered in the above guide, these will be closed. The title says Please Read Before Posting for a reason.

Suggestions can not be put through without the support of the majority of the site or Rich. If a suggestion becomes highly debated over (the definition of which is left to the discretion of any Staff member with power over S&P) to the point of which it is impossible to tell whether or not the suggestion is supported, any Staff member with power over S&P may call a vote on the suggestion where only posts of yay (supporting the idea) or nay (not supporting the idea) will be accepted. Members have 1 vote, Moderators 2, Smods 3, Admins 4. The vote is to last 4 days, with the final verdict being displayed by the Staff member that initiated the vote. Said staff member will then close the topic and if the suggestion was accepted, send a link along with a brief description of the community's final decision to Rich via email.

General Notices

- With regards to bio comments, all forum rules apply to the bio comments section, except the double posting rule, 3 word rule, and on-topic rule. Spam, (ie:soncdsodncwopi) flame, trolling, etc. will be dealt with in accordance to current forum policies by the staff. If you are the victim or witness of bio comment harassment, please report it via Contacts or to a staff member via email, MSN, or a bio comment.

- Take note that any person has the right to accept or decline any friend request sent to them. Any form of harassment based around the ideals of our friend system will be dealt with accordingly by staff members, just report the issues to a staff member via email, MSN, or a bio comment.

- If a valid suggestion topic is made, members/mods/smods/admins have the right to post their opinions on the subject, in order to improve the idea and keep it afloat until Rich sees it. This means you can bump the topic within reason. However, posts such as &8220;lol I hope rich sees this&8221; will not be tolerated, and be counted as spam.

- After an issue is resolved, please do not post "yea, i got this too. its annoying" or anything of the sort. If simply refreshing the page fixes the problem, there is no need for further commenting.

- Do not repeat what has already been stated. If someone already posts how to fix a problem, you may not repeat what they just said. You can, however, elaborate more on the solution. You may also reword it, only if the topic creator asks for it to.

- If, and only if, certain advertisements are seriously damaging your experience on SC, we suggest you install some sort of adblock on your computer. Supercheats is self supporting, and thus needs to sell advertising space that may end up shifting our tiles (boxes with text or links) over considerably depending on the ad, or otherwise making things not work properly at times. If you encounter one of these adds please report it here and it will be dealt with. However we do need this revenue, so please only use the AdBlock when necessary. Firefox users may install the Adblock Plus Addon, and Google Chrome user, the AdBlock Extension.

- Begging for mod spots or unbanning accounts (yours or anybody else's) will not be tolerated and closed instantly.

- Remove all apostrophe's in titles if you plan to edit at all.

- To suggest a forum to be added to our extensive collection, DO NOT MAKE A TOPIC! Follow these instructions in the thread so cleverly linked to in my words using BBCode mentioned above, and we will try to fulfill your request.

- When suggesting a function, please provide a clear and detailed description of why the function should be added to our priority list. If you don't, it won't be added, and will not be created... Ever. If you do, and the function is useless, it still won't be added.

- Points are no longer updated to the system daily, the stats and such now change once a week. Do not create topics asking why your points aren't going up at least until a week and a half from any of your submissions.

- There is a link that if clicked, will force a person to join a team, we do not allow the use of this link and if you are found of using it your signature will be removed and you warned. If you see a member listed multiple times in the teams and clans section in a single team, it is because they have clicked this "Force Join Link"

- A lot of members, especially the older ones, might have this avatar, or a different cat avatar. This happened through a small hacker problem. The hole was patched.

- Any staff member with power over Suggestions&Problems reserves the right to close any suggestion topic if the suggestion is deemed completely useless or, in other words, if they know for sure that it will not be accepted. This is in an effort to save our webmaster time looking through the threads and to keep this forum functioning optimally.
