I know iTunes has the little status at the bottom that shows how much music you have and I'm sure other music players do as well.
I have:
1650 Songs
5 days
13.37 GB
I have 3 CD's on order at HMV right now though, and I have a few that should be arriving at my house any day so my collection will be a bit larger in about a week or so.

Around 2,000 songs on my computer (seeing as how I filled up my Ipod)

713 songs, 1.9 days, 3.62 GB. On itunes I only keep like my best music. I dunno how to find it in WMP.

But WMP has absorbed various other sound files from games and the like into its library as a result of my appalling organisation of folders, so I can't trust it to give me an accurate number if I just select everything. And Foobar doesn't have a total that I've observed, although it is sexier than every other media player out there.
Also - the number of songs really tells you nothing about the amount of music you have. If I have one hour-long song and you have ten three-minute songs, who has more music? The tracks in my music library range from... I believe it's four seconds... to one hour, fourteen minutes and seventeen seconds. So... yeah.

That is where the day stat and the GB stat comes into play. larger songs would take up more space so if you have many long songs your GB will be higher then someone who listens to a lot of 3-5 minute songs.

Actually, the day/hour stat is the only one that's any use. Rip the same song from a CD as a .wma and then as a 320kbps .mp3, and you'll get hugely different file sizes for each. And then there's audio formats like .ogg, .flac...
But hey. It should always be about quality over quantity anyway. I'd rather get an amazing four-song EP than a rubbish double album.
