Your Dog Doesn't Love You

I remembered reading this on yahoo once I read pkmn's topic.

Pretty interesting if you think about it. When I went on vacation, my neighbor took care of my dog (went twice a day to feed him and let him out to relieve himself). He seemed very excited when we came home. He jumped in the car and wouldn't get out, which is what I guessed was because he didn't want to be left alone again.

Of course, he may have been doing that not because he missed us, or just because he was bored in an empty house for three days.

The sad thing is, I can see this in my dog :(. All this time I thought Lily was excited I got home from school.

Way to ruin my day.

Oh well. I still hate dogs, so this just adds to it, I guess. Thanks for giving me another reason. :D

If this is true, then why did the assistant tell me all my dog did was whine until I picked her up
from heartworm treatment? Yes they're manipulative, but does that mean that they see you
as no more than the hand that feeds them? I think not. T_T I know she loves me, no matter what
your smarty pants person thinks.

Its not nescessarily that the dog misses YOU, but rather familiarity? They just want something they know. I guess dogs jump on you when you get home because, like it says, they get anxious when you're away.

This isn't always true, depending on the dog and the breed. You can teach a dog to dislike and attack other humans, but be friendly around you, even if the other human tries to take care of it and feed it. While dogs may not be capable of love (which is open to debate - we can't exactly go and ask them) they are capable of some forms of loyalty, which has shown to increase with age and experience. If the dog can fend for itself, yet still comes to you and no one else for affection, it has developed a sort of bond with you. I wouldn't say the dog thinks of this bond at all, but it can recognize that you treat it well and it may be unsafe around other humans if you're not around.

I know several dog trainers.

Haha, I knew my dog didn't love me even before I read this article.
The only time she ever pays any attention to me is when I either have a tennis ball or some type of food in my hand. But when I have either one of those, she constantly stares at me with the "sad eyes". It's very annoying, so I'd much rather have her attached to my mom. She's so annoying (my dog, not my mom. Well...my mom too.)

Right, we can never know, since we're obviously not dogs.

There may be no love in their loyalty as well.

Anyhoo I thought my dogs loved me...well actually not really some were scared of me.

For some reason I've always had a natural thing with dogs. They always come to be with me more than like any other person. I've had it happen many times, the dog would either go to me the most, or nobody else.

For some reason my dog knows my whole family but when someone comes over he barks at them.

You spend so much time in the kitchen, you constantly smell like food. No love or natural bond there.

All living creatures have emotions, if not as strong as those of humans in some cases.

I've always preferred cats to dogs, anyway.

Right, I'd imagine they have very diluted.
