Ah, Violet City. One of my favorite cities, and also the first one that's actually important. The only real difference between the original and the remake's version of this city is the beginning drum beat in the music. ;o
Let's start with where you enter. The
Southeast Gate--right by it is the Pokmon center, and a weird juggler who allows you to change your Wi-Fi sprite, if I'm not mistaken.
Southwest of the Pokmon center is the house in which a school kid trades you his Onix [nicknamed Rocky in the originals] for a Bellsprout. [You can catch them in the route to the right of Violet City, or the route right below it.]
If you exit through the
Northeast gate, talk to a fat guy standing by the Sudowoodo and get Rock Smash from him. You'll be able to use it once you defeat Falkner. However, you can't challenge the Gym right away; you need to go to the Sprout Tower first. [Don't worry, it's good experience.]
To the north of Violet City is the
Bellsprout Tower. To get there, cross over
the bridge connecting the mainland to the island and then the forest. [It's called a tower for a
reason, by the way...
o_o]
This is the
first floor of the tower.
Second floor. [The monks are trainers, by the way.] At night, you can find wild Gastly. During any other time of the day, there are only Rattata that will appear. Challenge the Sprout Tower at night, if you can.
Third floor. You fight at least two monks here [the third one in the upper right is a bit stronger than the others, and has a Hoothoot as well, but fighting him is optional]. Move north and you'll find Silver challenging the Elder there. He loses, and the monk tells him it is because he lacks love for his Pokmon [which Silver just shrugs off, of course].
After he leaves, you can battle the Elder for TM 70, Flash. He's stronger than every other monk in the tower, but still not as powerful as you should be by this time.
Now that you've defeated the Elder monk, you can
challenge Falkner. [
Click Me!]His Pokmon have been strengthened this time around, but not too much. He gives you the TM for Roost upon victory, and also the ability to use Rock Smash out of battle.
Once Falkner's defeated, you get a call from Professor Elm telling you to meet his assistant in the PokMart.
He gives you a Togepi egg. Leave the PokMart, and you'll find
a Kimono Lady who wants your attention. Deal with her unnecessary cameo and exit through the
South gate.
There are a few extra things in Violet City that you should remember. Once you get Surf, come back here. There are items to the right and left of the Sprout Tower.
There's also a
Trainer's School here in Violet City. To the right of it is a boulder. Smash it and find the hidden Hyper Potion.
I got bored doing this, so I took a picture of Falkner
moonwalking on water.
Yes.
