They really do, that's probably why you've been given the chance to give your Pokemon nicknames. So, when Soul Silver comes out, got any names in mind for these little Pokemon? Sure, there are different names that can be given depending on types, and that's why there's so much to discuss here :D

I'm going to train a Umbreon and Espeon like I did before. I'll call the Umbreon Moonlight and the Espeon Sunlight. My starter I haven't decided on just yet but, I might go with Flora since its the grass type I'm starting with.

No, they didn't come from the rp characters. The first Umbreon and Espeon I trained had those nicknames. Though I am going to name a Vulpix Lilly and that idea did come from the rp.

The first time I gave one of my Pokemon a nickname, I epically phailed. I ended up naming a Blaziken 'Love' for some odd reason. (Don't ask why, I was just a stupid little kid)

If you mean by nick naming them, I don't do that. I go with the original names. <333

How am I being mean? I simply said you shared the same mindset as me. That you dislike the fact that the names of the Pokemon don't change when they evolve

Well thats a.... unique name for a Blazeiken. I wasn't to good at coming up with nicknames at one time either, I once named an Oddish Zddish.

I really only name my favorite pokemon. I know I'll train a crobat but hopefully I'll come up with a better nickname then batty.

xD Z. Naming a Crobat, Batty. And an Oddish, Zddish. Nice. That deserves Kudos.

Knowing me, I would probably name something based on what it is like what you just said. Batty ain't that bad considering what it is... lot better than what I would name it *CoughGuanocough*

I hadn't joined sc back when I had named the oddish. I do get a good laugh from some of the old nicknames I gave my pokemon. I'm always trying to come up with better nicknames for my favorite pokemon though some were pretty good.

Give up on giving them better names, go with something simple. Give them names like 1, 2, 3, Shoe, 4, Apple, Etc. Simple names always seem to work well on these little crazy things :D

I would of thought replacing the first letter of a pokemon's name would count as simple.

I won't be surprised if I end up training a sableye and naming it Shadow.

Well, let's review on some of the nicknames I gave to my Pokemon in Platinum(keep in mind that these are pretty weird):

Empoleon: Xephyr
Glaceon: Zealia
Togekiss: Starboard
Togekiss 2: Serenity
Heatran: Sigma
Zapdos: Alas
Palkia: Therefore
Dialga: Likewise
Giratina: However
Cresselia: Seren
Swampert: Eight
Lucario: Xurph
Dragonite: Fernn

Yeah....Not even mentioning what I nicknamed them in Sapphire. Thing is, I like giving them nicknames.

Typhlosion(starter): Sharp. You know, like F sharp? I like that note.
Murkrow: Starr(duh)
Lapras: Phreex(Hmmmm, I just made that up now. 'X' makes a 'Z' sound~)
Dragonite: Dust, like my Garchomp.
Heracross: Flat. You know, like B flat. The kind of trumpet I play?
Suicune: Centigrade

Wow, I might have to put in a couple temporary Pokemon in my party. Most of the ones I listed don't appear early in the game. :S
