Nah, I took a stock and used various other effects from the same stock.
In my current, the stock contained pretty much everything I needed/wanted. The "C4Ds" you see is actually the scarf thing flying in the wind behind her. I rendered that out and wrapped it around her. Other than that, I took splatter brushes and brushed around for neat little effects. Then I made little balls of light by taking a round, hard brush (in this case, they started out pink but they eventually turned orange after I played with colors), and brushed on top of those with a white soft brush, setting the soft brushed layers to Overlay.
And then I focused on coloring and contrast and lighting and stuff.

I find that I like using effects from the same stock and making them work nicely, but of course that depends on the stock you use.
