Ok I have a problem with my screen resolution..

I have a pretty crappy laptop that I use to play PC games with for right now.. and basically if I want to play a game I've to put all the graphics down and play on a lower screen resolution... The problem only started happening a while ago which is: If i turn the resoloution down to say.. 800x600 (native resolution is 1366 x 7680 then instead of having it streth across the screen with lower quality it just centers a 800x600 window on my screen leaving some black bars on all sides of it... I'm sure it's a pretty simple solution that I have to fix in the control panel.. but whatever.. Thanks in advance..
