We are getting increased problems with members using images as avatars, team pictures or otherwise in the forums / teams from random sources. This is normally fine but when the random blog where the image is hosted get reported for being infected with malware then every page that contains any image or other content from that site also gets blocked / reported.
We are putting together a list of acceptable image hosts that will initially be required for new avatar selections and probably eventually we will restrict all images or other content displayed on the site to only those known hosts.
The list will include the known hosts such as tinypic.com. But if there are any sites that you use that you want to make sure are included please can you let me know here. We want to try to make sure that no images go missing from your posts / teams etc.
We will not be including though sites that are not image hosts. So if you do currently use images you have found on blogs, or other unrelated sites please make sure you have permission to use the image and then host it on one of the sites that we will list shortly.
I am going to sticky this thread in general chat for a while.

...Is DeviantART an image host site? I know this probably sounds like a dumb question, but I'm currently in the mindset that it's considered an image display site. ._.

Imageshack is awful, but I suppose it should be included on the list seeing as it's somehow still widely used...
I only really use imgur since discovering it, seeing as it just seems way better than all the other hosting sites out there to me... Question though - I'm assuming it won't, but will this affect people who use URL shortening services on their image links (like bit.ly or tinyurl) in order to save on signature characters?

Imageshack is terrible.
For anyone that uses Firefox and Imgur, I recommend you get the Imgur Uploader add-on. It lets you right-click upload and take really fast selective screenshots. Just a suggestion. Not sure if there's an add-on for Chrome.
