I'm quite bored of all this talk of the forums getting too inactive and dull. So I'm asking you...what do you think is wrong? What's missing? Select the option which applies the most in the poll above.

It did cross my mind, but you can only create up to six options for a Poll.
For me, though, the lack of past members isn't really a factor. We were all a lot younger back then. I guess I'd attribute it to an increase in the average age, but I don't know...I don't waste too much time thinking about this.

I think it's fine the way it is. It's kind of slow. Maybe more members would help, but not every member that joins SC is going to be active.
I do like PBO's idea on more competitions, and by that I mean MVP. A monthly MVP would probably get things more active. There doesn't have to be a prize, because that sexy looking badge is enough. XD Maybe we can even do competitions, like who can do the most Submissions, Forum Posts, or Team Posts this month or that month.

We used to do that years ago, despite there never being any official competitions. Everyone used to try to get to the top of the Stats page, or get the most forum posts.
The result? A lot of crappy submissions and spammy posts.
An MVP every month though? I don't know. It would just nullify the whole point of there being one in the first place, really.

I think it's a mixture of the average age being a little too high, and the forums not being advertised enough on the main site.

They're actually advertised around the main site, but usually right at the bottom of pages.

I dont think Id enjoy the company of our past selves at present :P but if the oldies came back it would prob be funny, maybe, hopefully?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that.
It would be quite amusing. I'd invite a few back for a visit but I'm not in touch with anyone anymore and haven't been for years. I only use Facebook regularly, and I don't add people from online on there.
