Synopsis from MAL:
This psychological thriller, based on the manga written and illustrated by Sakae Esuno, is about Yuki, a loner who's not very good with people. He prefers to write a diary on his cell phone and talk to his imaginary friend, Deus Ex Machina-- The God of Time and Space. However, Yuki soon learns that Deus is more than a figment of his imagination when he makes Yuki participate in a battle royale with eleven others. The contestants are given special diaries that can predict the future, each diary possessing unique features that give it both advantages and disadvantages. Within the next 90 days, the contestants must try to survive until there is only one left standing. The winner will become the new God of Time and Space.

I recently caught up with this show and I'm enjoying it a lot. It has a good way of going from "happy slice of life" to "murder mystery" to "oh my god what is happening" and back again. If you can check it out, I'd say it's worth the watch. It's much more than the synopsis makes it out to be.

My only warning is for the violence and sexual themes. They're not absurd or out there or entirely unrealistic, but if you're not comfortable with it, you might not want to watch.

Yes, showing that video was necessary.

Absolutely loving this series, even with two friends that have fully read the manga and keep going on about just how many spoilers they've crammed in to the OP's* and how they're going to round it all up with just 6 episodes left to go. It's dark, it's psychotic, it keeps throwing twists at you and I like it.

That video is very necessary.

I haven't touched the manga. By the time I remembered it had a manga, I was fourteen episodes in and decided to finish it via the anime and read the manga later. Needless to say, it's hard avoiding spoilers, ha.

Now this is something I've been watching.
I absolutely love it.
It's currently my favourite anime of the year - though that might not say much, as I haven't been as "into" the anime scene as I used to be. So there aren't many that I'm keeping up on.
But this is an amazing anime. Definitely worth a try.

For 2011, I'd say it's the 3rd best, topped only by Steins;Gate and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. For this year, since it's still running, i'd probably say the best, though Black Rock Shooter is a strong competitor.

Yeah, I meant this year.
2011.. I'd say probably top 5. But closer to the lower end... SteinsGate was so good. Definitely my favourite of last year. I've never seen or even heard of Madoka Magica, though.

You're a rare breed.

On the topic of Mirai Nikki: best character? Aside from Yuno of course.

Minene 'Ninth' Uryu. A badass without needing to be too insane (anything she does do just seems to fall under the terrorist job description), even after losing various body parts (her left eye, most prominantly). Also gets some of the best character development in the series.

Arise, romantic tendencies aside, is a cool character as well.
