Is Windows 7 Worth It?

I recently built a new computer and it is running Linux Mint. I am a game developer and program a lot and use a lot of software exclusive to Windows. I was going to go buy it, but it is so expensive. Is it worth buying, or too much for the price?

That depends on if you need it for work or not.
If you need it for work (programming), then get it else if you don't need it for work or to run certain programs then don't get it.
I use Win 7 myself currently. I had Vista and Ubuntu on my old laptop, and I found myself using Ubuntu a lot for general stuff like browsing the web, or typing work and the like. I felt more comfortable on it in the security section too since it is near impossible to get a virus on it.

Get it.
Do not EVER get Vista.
If you really wanna stick with the old style, then yeah, XP is there.
But Windows 7 is easily the better choice with today's technology.

As for sticking with Linux/Unix or whatever, I can't say that. I have no experience with those OSes at all, so I don't know how well they work or what they're good for or anything.

If you have the money, then yes, get it. It is worth it.

The unfortunate thing, nowadays is that Windows over prices their OS. I mean heck you can get just about any Linux OS for free so why bother with Windows? If i had to choose an OS, it'd be Lion OSx, just because buying an Apple product and updating the OS costs about as much as buying a regular new laptop from Microsoft and then buying a Windows OS as well.

Just my personal opinion, but i think Apple's Computer Products are better, and look better. It's all up to your personal preference however. Do some research, use google if you have to. Take your time before deciding to buy a $200 OS.
