Tbh, (and I'm probably talking a load of ******** here, because I was drinking at a mates 21st when I saw this tv program) from what I saw on this t.v on the discovery (or Nat Geo or something) channel; the Mayan Calander doesn't predict/end at the end of the world. It was thought by those on this show that the calander was more like the end of an era/age in Mayan history.
Much like B.C/A.D is us (I suppose) :s

Probably, I don't really care much about the entire subject. People believe so many different things, it's near impossible to tell what's truth & what's not when it comes to faith.
