Let's see:
-Staff overhaul
-Derek and Nikki are gone
-New Supermods are Craizen, Keylade, stormform, and CrypticWizard
-Me and sphynxx are new admins
-Crossy's still here, as ever
-All of the general boards were consolidated into general chat, besides FF&RP, S&P, and new members.
-We've got the new Wikis section for people to contribute on
-Rich is taking an active roll in the community now, we're all bouncing around ideas on how to better integrate video games with the forums, ways to boost activity, doing something with Teams. Just general updates and stuff.
I think that's pretty much it. Reading through the New Staff Line-up thread may help more.

(I'm pretty sure Sphynxx actually killed Rich, and has taken over the site. He's hacked all the accounts of the authorities, and is controlling the site through what seems to be a reasonable, calm bunch of strangers, while he actually has a strangle-hold on everything. Don't even think of hinting at it though, he'll obliterate you. The only reason I can say this is because he's too lazy to read small print)
Yup, sure is different, much better I think, the best it's been in my opinion, the Admins sure are doing a great job

IA - Basically everything Mike stated. Most of the Main Forums that were dead/dying have been consolidated into this forum, Wiki's have been added to the site, member's account pages have been updated, and we are actually starting to get more activity :D

Define "more activity". I don't think this activity will match the efficiency of 2007's though....

At least I think so. We have more old members coming back, and the place is getting better :D

He was upset with Rich. Rich didn't want an Admin who was essentially working on a competing site. Plus, Derek has said time and time again he saw no point in hanging around.
