Pokemon News - Generation VII

I thought about putting this in the Gaming News Forum, but decided to put it here instead.

So, there will be yet another Generation of Pokemon. Yep, that's right. Yesterday, some person leaked spoilers for Generation VII on Twitter.

The spoilers weren't anything that qualified as big news, but it did confirm another generation.

The leaked information included:

1. Bidoof will have a Split-Evolution
2. One of the Legendary Pokemon of Generation VII will be based off of a Steampunk Moose
3. There will be more Mega Evolutions (not a shock)
4. The Region will be based off Central Canada
5. The Professor will be named Professor Maple (everyone knew it would be based off a different type of tree)
6. The Villians of the Region Plot to divide the Region and outlaw the Pokemon League

That's basically it. Like I said, nothing really shocking. From what I hear, some people are upset from this (especially Canadian Pokemon Fans).

I'm pretty excited for this. I thought Generation VI was a little of a let down with the new Pokemon. I'm hoping this next generation will be better.

Thoughts? I know nothing of Pokemon. But hey it's always great to hear about leaked information.

You should play more Pokemon.

It's kinda complicated.

For like a five year old. XD What's hard about catching/training creatures?

Does this mean no Pokemon Z?

I don't know lots of creatures, moves, and training. Also time consuming.

Mike: I really don't know. I hope there will still be Pokemon Z.

Jake: It's not really that hard. It does take a little bit of time, but it's fun.

Is it only on mobile systems?

Eh. It doesn't affect me as I don't have a 3DS.

And yeah, it isn't hard to get into on a basic level. Each pokemon has a type, and each pokemon has 4 moves, each with their own type. It follows a rock-paper-scissors order, so grass beats water, water beats fire, fire beats grass etc. If you can get the types memorized the single player is pretty simple.

The main RPGs are only on handhelds, but there are a few notable games on consoles that are strictly battle-focused:

Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 on the N64, Colosseum, and XD: Gale of Darkness on the Gamecube, and Battle Revolution on the Wii. I recommend them all except for Battle Revolution.

Mike: I loved Pokemon Stadium. I wish they'd come out with a newer version of it.

So it's kinda like Yu Gi Oh?

I wish they'd come out with something that let you play through every region and actually get every pokemon. Preferably an MMO using the graphics from X and Y where you can see other people in the world and challenge them to battles. Chat features could be limited to remove people preying on children or whatever.

KoC: Ehhhhh, kinda. Except there's no cards in the games like in the YuGiOh games. And it's more focused on type matchups than straight attack and defense stats.

Your knowledge of some of the most well known games is insulting.

Also I lost interest in Pokemon after the 4th gen. Disliked a lot of the 5th gen pokemon and the mega-evolution idea. Don't see why I will like 6th gen much better or these newer mega evos. Besides the new games aren't really all that new, same idea repeated over again with a few new mechanics.
Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2, Gale of Darkness, and Colosseum were probably some of their best ones, haven't played Battle Revolution yet. And up to Emerald Version I'm a fan but after that I lost interest. It'd be nice for them to do a major change up. And stop releasing new pokemon, I personally feel that the 5th gen was pretty bad so the 6th is just going to ruin it for me. They gotta know when to stop and keep what they got.

Also I sort of agree with Jake, Pokemon can be very complex. It is certainly simple but there are a lot of components that can make the games pretty complicated. I never have understood stats, personalities, and those IV or EV things.
