A few days ago I met a man who fought for our country. 10 years ago in Afghanistan his humvee hit an IED. After the explosion he and his convoy were ambushed by machine gun fire and RPGs. In the firefight he was shot two times by 7.62mm and was hit by RPG shrapnel. It wasn't until after the fight that he realized he had broken his neck and back. One of his buddies lost a leg.
There are thousands of these stories of bravery in the defense of this country. Let's not forget our veterans today(or any day).

Don't see how afghanistan is a direct threat to america, and soldiers get paid, I think most of them do it for money, not patriotism
