Are we missing anything on SuperCheats?

This is a post for feedback and suggestions to anything you think we may be missing or could improve on.

Recently, in alexa rankings, we overtook our long term rival (cheatcc) and currently now rank second only to gamefaqs in Alexa's cheats and hints category (http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category/Top/Games/Video_Games/Cheats_and_Hints). This is a massive achievement for us, but as ever we want to improve and are looking for any feedback with regard to what we are missing or could do better at.

But seriously you guys could use some advertising/sponsorship.

Advertisement would probably be the one thing I would suggest, for the forums in particular. There is, I believe, actual space on the site to advertise the forums.

You know where the Help A Gamer / How To Guides / Family Guy QFS ad is on the top of the page on the left hand side? Why don't you make a box that advertises the Forums on the opposite side. This way, you can have two boxes for advertising for SC while still being able to put advertisements in the middle of them.

Just a suggestion.

Actually this is in hand - Mark is making something up now - or we'll get Dennis to do it on Monday - If there are any talented people that want to make and donate an ad for the forums - post it here and if we like it, we'll make it the ad

That's good, Rich. Should bring in some more traffic.

I think this has been mentioned but people would be more motivated to earn points through submissions/posts if they could spend those points on things such as avatars, signatures or whatever people would be interested in. maybe buy skins or some such if you had a person to dedicate their time to make the items they could unlock with their points

I dunno if this is a very good idea or not but its something Ive thought about a while ago too. I dunno how youd go about it rich, but if you need any gfx help I would be willing to help out. problem with me is I dont have much free time now I work full time

To me this idea would be difficult to create, but would prove affective when it is around. I'd love to have something to spend 74,000 points on.

Yeah I've always liked the idea of a store to spend points on. It gives people a reason to submit other than the satisfaction of seeing their score go up. Avatars, sigs, little badges for their profile. I agree with the advertising bit too. How big would this ad have to be?

Also I can't explain it but there seems like there's too many links on each page. It's too busy.

A pruning of the video game forums could be good too. Get rid of all the forums that have never been posted in so there isn't 20,000 blank forums. Then if there's somebody on that game's main site page they can start a topic and the forum will be created then. If that's possible.

You have to do something to make people interested in the forums. Start tournaments, do another Pokemon Brawl, something to spark interest.

I'd be willing to run a Pokemon Brawl.

A Pokemon Brawl sounds really interesting - Michael if your up for it!

If we get it live we can advertise it on the site.

There's a reason you didn't get a response the first time.

Rich, you could also organize a "SC Reunion" and send a mass email to everyone asking them to stop by. Maybe some people will stick around.

Xeta: I suggested an online SC Reunion years ago. Never got any real consideration, but I still think it's a good idea.

We sent out a mass email on PXE and got like five people to return, no one really stayed by SC has a much larger member base than we do.

I don't know how well it would work, but just sending an email and posting a notice on the site's Facebook isn't really that much work and it couldn't hurt. I'd be nice to see some older faces, even if it's just for a few posts.

I had the same thoughts about it.

Yeah, it takes next to no effort. Posting a status, tweeting it, and sending an email should take like 10 mins
