I don't think Minecraft can even be called a game anymore. We're too far gone for that now. It started out as a simple game where you build tings. Then you had to mine resources to build things. Then you had to mine recourses to build weapons to defend yourself.
Pretty simple right? The graphics are super simplistic, the 3d models are all just blocks, the tools are 2D objects. The game play isn't too deep or complicated.
4 years later little progress has been made on actual gameplay yet people are still playing it and most importantly they are creating this

With the new slime block we can now have normal blocks move through the air for the first time and of course they created a giant ******* robot with working missiles to demonstrate this point.

But at the beginning of this year we reached something that I would never have expected in my life I would see. In minecraft someone built a clock that can theoretically keep going until the death of the know universe (I recommend watching the entire thing)
Can Minecraft even be considered a game anymore? It literally escapes my comprehension how a game is able to do these kind of things.

I played it for months on end back in 2011 when it just exited alpha. I quit about early 2013.
I'm just amazed at what's been done in Minecraft. It makes me want to play it even less because I know I'll never top it
