Secnario: Invasion

This is a what if scenario designed to help you prepare in the event of an invasion by another country.

Scenario:

You wake up one morning to the sound of planes and explosions off in the distance. You rush outside and see hundreds of large aircraft with (enemy)soldiers parachuting out. All down your block you see your neighbors standing in their yards staring in disbelief at the invasion force. Troops are on the ground now and they are making your neighbors law down on the ground. You look down the street to see local law enforcement reluctantly surrendering to the invaders at gunpoint.

What do you do?

Run?
Hide?
Surrender?
Fight?
Other?

Post your answer and I will hypothesize on it's outcome.

I would hide. Trying to fight would get you killed, surrendering would get you killed. Running would make you easy to see, & you would either be killed or captured.

Your hiding is limited to your available area. Depending on where you hide and the ammount of food you have you last a month. They would be searching/raiding houses. If they don't find you starvation will still be a factor.

I have storage space in my roof (not an attic), so that would be a very good place to hide. The metal pole used to open it would be up in the room with us (since my family would also be in the room), so the invaders couldn't find us. But yes, starvation & dehydration would be factors, but we would take up lots of food & water.

An average household contains 3 weeks of food. Hiding in the attic wouldn't work too well. They would be looking for your family. Think about this for a second:

The Jews hid in the attics while the Nazis searched for them. Even with outside help it was largely unsuccessful.

Well the Nazis were ruthless. These people may not be.

Yeah I'm sure any country who invades Australia will be just swell.

The only good land is near the southern coasts.

But you're in a city. Cities are valuable.

I would hide too. Would have to find a good spot though.

It sounds likes you'd be caught/killed with whatever you choose.

I live in Australia, we have this covered.

I watched the 2012 remake and it was pretty good. I'm assuming Red Dawn is where you got the idea from.

How I would react would really depend on what situation I'm in. If I'm alone I would go inside, grab a backpack and stuff it with essentials and then take off. Hopefully I would find stores/homes to scavenge from along the way, with an end goal of getting somewhere isolated. If I had to, I'd try to grow crops and start some sort of small farm to support myself.
If I was with people, it would generally depend on if I felt they could survive the way I have in mind. If they are older, than I'd probably either hide or surrender. Might even leave anyways if I feel the situation justifies the actions.

Just my train of thought though, I know all of that is a bit out there, but it's not impossible.
