Scenario: Zombie Apocalypse

This is a what if scenario designed to help you prepare in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

Scenario:

You've heard about this new virus on the news. People get sick like the flu for 2 weeks. Let's call it the Flash virus. It doesn't really stand out because to you it's like any other virus. At the moment the number of people with the Flash virus is estimated to be 14 million in your country and local country's area.

Then one night you hear on the news that the Flash virus has mutated to something totally different. People with the Flash virus have suddenly all died within a 36 hour period.

But 12 hours later you hear that they have come back to life.

They now have a taste for human flesh and those who get bitten become a "zombie" within 12-36 hours. The "zombies" are slow(one step per second), cannot climb, and can only be killed by removing the head or destroying the brain.

Your first thought is holy **** zombies are real!? Before you can think about that for too long you notice screaming and crashing off in the distance. The zombies will be at your house within 20 mins. You see the streets are full of cars trying to leave.

You look far down the street to see that the zombies are definitely real. They amount in the hundreds.

What do you do?

Run?
Fortify?
Fight?

Post your answer and I will hypothesize on it's outcome.

I would quickly gather lots of food & water & take it onto by roof. I'd get heaps & heaps, & since the zombies cannot climb, I would be safe. I would also take a mattress, warm sheets, clothes, my phone & any weapons I have. I would then wait, & wait, since eventually there would be rescue parties patrolling the area via helicopter. I wouldn't try looking for others, since at the outbreak 61% of my country's population will be zombies, & in the coming hours the number infected would reach at least 20 million (87% of the population).

If anyone approached me & asked if they could stay up here with me, I would probably say no, in case they are infected. One wrong move in this situation & you could be dead. Eventually the number of people becoming infected would decline, & the country would be able to ask for assistance from allies such as Britain & America.

The military doesn't exactly work like that. The first protocol for a deadly outbreak is containment. They would quarantine the area(since Australia is an island there would be a navy blockade around the country). Any aircraft or watercraft trying to leave Australia would be shot in order to contain the virus. Since you are in a major city rescue seems unlikely. They wouldn't risk rescuing an infected person and infecting the safe zone. To the military that area is infected and unstable. All aircraft and resources would go towards rescuing vips and maintaining the quarantine. If containment fails they would hit Australia with MOABs.

The Zombies don't die unless they are killed so that means about 20 million zombies are roaming the country while a few humans fight back. Sadly the military wouldn't step foot in Australia. It would be all aircraft.

Well hopefully they would just spread out into the wasteland of Australia XD.

Surely other countries would at least try to help. At least drop care packages down for us, since the zombies wont eat the food. And Jake, there would be about 2 million people left at that stage, which is a lot of people.

Care packages are possible. Zombies would stay where the people are(cities). I don't know if 2 million people could survive against 20 million zombies. Aren't firearms limited in Australia?

Police would have some. Maybe they'd let civilians have some?

Problem is you don't have 20 million rounds. Combat would have to be creative.

The sad thing is, since America don't care about Australia, they'd just nuke us...

No Nikes would be counterproductive as it would render the continent uninhabitable. MOABs and fire pods would be more likely.

How are Nikes relative to this topic?

Shaun: Right.

[cuts to dream sequence]

Shaun: We take Pete's car, we drive over to Mum's, we go in, take care of Philip - "I'm so sorry, Philip" - then we grab Mum, we go over to Liz's place, hole up, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over.

Ed: Why have we got to go to Liz's?

Shaun: Because we do.

Ed: But she dumped you!

Shaun: I have to know if she's all right!

Ed: Why?

Shaun: Because I love her!

Ed: All right... gayyy... I'm not staying there, though.

Shaun: Why not?

Ed: If we hole up, I wanna be somewhere familiar, I wanna know where the exits are, and I wanna be allowed to smoke.

Shaun: Okay.

[cuts to dream sequence again]

Shaun: We take Pete's car, go round Mum's, go in, deal with Philip - "Sorry, Philip!" - grab Mum, go to Liz's, pick her up, bring her back here, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over.

Ed: Perfect!

Shaun: No, no, no, no, no, wait, we can't bring her back here.

Ed: Why not?

Shaun: Well, it's not really safe, is it?

Ed: Yeah, look at the state of it.

Shaun: Where's safe? Where's familiar?

Ed: Where can I smoke?

[Shaun and Ed pause then slowly make a realisation]

Shaun: [cuts to dream sequence a third time] Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Ed: Yeah, boyyyeee!

[Shaun and Ed clang their weapons together]
