I'm not really into the series anymore. The second season really lost my interest, but I saw some reviews online recently on a website ad. I can't believe Nick would allow that, if that's truly what went down. Like I said, I wouldn't know. Most people online think it's true.

Alex Hirsh, known for Gravity Falls, said he would love to have a queer character in the show but can't do it for legal reasons. And those legal reasons dealing with China and such, because doing so could get the whole network banned there. So really for the most part executives don't have an issue with it, it's just backwash legislation in other countries.
In the episode The Love God he had Mabel wear a rainbow sweater for LGBT pride.
Also in the storyboards there's a few interesting notes.
I can't be bothered to post the rest of the storyboards leading up to it the end result was an elderly lesbian couple which was really sweet. However it had to be censored for the bullarky reasons stated above.
On an other note, the "love god" himself in storyboards was wearing a necklace with a symbol that is used within the trans community.
The symbol in the upper left is used to denote transgender/gender-variant people in case you were curious.
Anyways, it's usually not because of executive meddling we don't see more of this on television but sadly foreign policies.

Hyper: That's what I thought. I was just a little shocked Nick would allow that, but then again, it wasn't just straight up. Nothing too mature for Nick.

I don't have a big issue with it, since I didn't watch after the first season. I just couldn't believe that Nick went along with it, even if it wasn't aired on TV.

it's pretty implied. I mean, some people still think the ending could possible be interpreted as a platonic ending, but she holds the other character's hand and stares into her eyes. it's not 100%, but I mean, it's as obvious as they could make it without a kiss or something.
personally I dislike the ending but that's for other reasons, not the lesbian part exactly.
