Hi Nikki. It's nice to see you.
So, questions. I have 20 minutes before I need to leave for work, so I guess I could explain everything at once.
College;
I'm in the last few months of my associate's degree in computer science. Progress with that thing has been slow. I started the degree back in 2011, and didn't get serious about it until last year. My professors caught wind of my programming projects, and turned my name over to Ashley Furniture. I was offered a position with them as a programmer, but had to turn it down for 2 reasons.
They wanted me to travel internationally, specifically to India and Japan. I absolutely loved the look of their private jets, but I can't leave my family. My grandparents are in poor health and if something happened to them while I was away, I know I'd regret it. The other reason was the language they were wanting; old school IBM RPGLE - green screen. I know the language, but hate it with a passion.
At this point I'll probably just take up BancorpSouth's offer, since they're local. The only downside to them is their websites use ASP.NET frameworks rather than PHP.
Work;
I took a step down recently. My friend is a general manager at an IHOP in town, so he convinced me to work with him at night. It's mostly us just chilling, but he likes us to look busy every now and then.
Programming;
Like I said before, I don't have a lot of free time anymore, so programming has taken a back seat over the past few months. It's probably for the best, because I was about to scream there for a while.
Last year was absolutely terrible. One website I worked on took off. We sent from 5 signups per day to 700 per day. That lasted for 2 months, and on multiple occasions, the server committed suicide. I ended up having to pay 2,000 dollars per year for the right equipment to handle the traffic.
Soon after people I needed started disappearing. Our UI designer tried to commit suicide. He lived, but went AWOL shortly thereafter. I still don't know how our graphics artist ended up in the hospital, but I haven't seen a return on one of the 300 dollar projects I gave her.
