I don't think the manufacturer makes much difference (for PC) Its just how much you can afford to spend on it. A cheap one with low end components will not be as good as a well specced machine. From just about anywhere. And your own circumstances will decide if your are better off with a mac, chromebook, standard laptop, tablet, hybrid, full PC or all of the above.

I miss my old Acer. When I took it to be repaired and told them that it was 7yrs old they wouldnt believe me. Apparently laptops dont last that long usually. RIP my old Acer. Now I have a Lenovo, my rebound laptop XD
Thanx to Craizen for the sig, love ya babe, Hubby for the avi.
In experience I find that Compaq computers last longer. I only use it to play games like The Sims and the expansion packs, but some of the applications like IE take a while to load stuff, even on a fast network.
But then again, what you think is a good or bad computer depends on what you want when buying a computer. Me personally, I want a computer that'll be able to handle 80+ games and a couple pieces of software, and it must have a DVD drive. Preferably, I would want it to last 8-10+ years, which is a big ask.

I think I have an Acer, which has served me faithfully since before I can remember and has been through countless different operating systems. Then again, the monitor is almost a perfect square.
