Pets are hard work, my son has had terrapins, fish, and a rabbit and all have been five minute wonders that have lumbered me with their day to day cleaning. The worst was the fish tank, that used to take 1.5 hours to clean because you had to make sure the water mixture was correct otherwise the fish would not survive.
We ended up with a cat (rescued by a friend) ... meaning that a cat has accepted our company in return for food and a warm place to sleep.
Also have a rabbit and hamster for the kids but I agree with you that it just means that they play with them once a month and we (parents) end up cleaning / feeding them.

That's a pretty cat. My wife is allergic to them so cats are off the list of potential pets my son can have and because she got bitten by a dog when she was a child she's scared of any dog that is bigger than a Chihuahua so that's dogs of the list as well. I'm not complaining though, I can do without the work of looking after them.
Poor dog has been given the snip today. She coped with it well but is now moping around looking sorry for her self. Had to put a cone on her which she is not happy with. Hope she gets used to it and starts to feel better tomorrow.

awww funny I wouldnt have thought she would be bothered. My cat was close to 3yrs old when he had his erm snips and once we got him back home he was bouncing around like nothing had happened.
Thanx to Craizen for the sig, love ya babe, Hubby for the avi.
She bounced back from the procedure quickly and she is fine.. but she hates the cone. Just sits in the corner and sulks like we put a dunce hat on her. Problem is i think they only had a small one and and very large one and the small one was just too small.
We took it off and have put a kids t-shirt on her to discourage any biting. Seems ok so far, and she is much happier.

Ahhh the cone! Lol, they didnt put that on our cat. Though he didnt really touch his sensitive parts for a while anyway. Poor thing! Those cones must be so annoying.
