Favourite Toy

What was your favourite toy as a young kid, mine had to be the Six Million Dollar Man. He had a bionic eye, rubber skin on one of his arms you could roll up to see the bionics and a lever on his back you could crank to pick up a car engine. Has to be one of the most popluar toys during the 70's, nearly everybody had one. The TV trailer for it is hilarious when I watch it now but back in the day it was serious stuff owning that doll.

I'm pretty sure I had an 'Action Man' and I remember having a couple of transformers. Those were cool.
Mostly though I had a lot of matchbox cars. And of course Lego, nothing fancy unfortunately as they cost a fortune. (still do) but I did end up with quite a lot over time.

Cars and lego, no one in my house was safe from stepping on something.

I remember having Action Man in the mid 70's, it was very popular wit young boys back then. A 40th anniversary edition of Action Man was reissued a few years back and my son ended up getting a few of the classic costumes like the Arctic Explorer, SAS, German Stormtrooper, British Army Officer, German Tank Commander, Diver, Royal Marine, and Africa Corps. Lego I personally think is still the best toy on the market, especially the Marvel, DC, and Star Wars editions. Wish they had of been about when I was a kid.

I think the US had their own version of Action Man and it was called GI Joe.

Toy?

I...ermm...I dont remember having toys.

You probably come from the same generation as me where kids entertained themselves on the street with their friends playing running games, riding their bikes, and kicking a football about until it got dark.

Yeah pretty much. I went bike riding a lot, played hopscotch and stuff like that.

Eh, now we have daycares and stuff like that in case the puppies are annoying. And the kids too.

I have a whole van with puppies if you want to see?

When I was quite young I enjoyed playing with small non-soft toy animals. From all the times at the shops to the times in Christmas stockings, I probably have about 150 of them all in a giant box. I named them all as well; usually their names were the name of the animal eg my two tigers were both called Tiger. I can still remember 95% of their names now thinking about it.

My son collected those plastic animal figures a couple of years back too. The quality ones were made by a company called Schliech. When those figures are discontinued they become sought after by collecters and become worth money. I personally liked the knights you can get.

That company is where most of mine came from.

They are a German company and they make the best figures, they are hand painted and the detail on some of them is superb. Did you have any of the scenery or extras like the truck, fences, trees, safari house etc? My son has the safari house and it is an impressive model.
