Its been a while since I watched baseball, but I used to enjoy the bits of coverage that we get over here. Im interested in checking out this years World Series though. Cubs through for the first time in 70 years, and Cubs - Indians sounds like a classic matchup. I probably wont know the players now, anyone know who the standout players are?

Lol, you haven't been following Baseball. America's national pastime is in all sorts of trouble, the younger generations are just not into it and prefer to watch the combat sports like MMA, UFC, and Bellator. Boxing is also another popular pastime that is dying because of it. I saw a game in 2001 between the NY Yankies and the Kansas City Royals and to be honest with you I was more interested looking around the old Yankee stadium which was steeped in sporting history with some of the most famous Boxing events ever being held there.
Keep the sporting fairytales coming. Last EPL season Leicester City won their first ever title against nearly all the odds, having nearly been sent into the lower league the season before. Last AFL season the Western Bulldogs broke a 60+ year premiership drought coming from 7th on the ladder (becoming the first team ever to do so) to win. Last NRL season the Cronulla Sharks won their first ever premiership in their long history after two years of previously been found guilty of using performance-enhancing drugs and finished last. This year in the Olympics Puerto Rico won their first ever gold medal after appearing at many previous games.
From what I've heard both teams have had extremely long droughts. But the Cubs' is longer, so I hope they win.

I can't believe baseball is losing too much ground. Im sure other sports are picking up more viewers and maybe a few are dropping baseball. But its still got to be one of the top sports in the US.

That's the problem trying to follow American sports when you live in Europe, what is prime time in the US is 4am in the morning here and unless you want to miss a days sleep you have to catch up with what happened the next day when you wake up in the morning. There was many a time though my dad and me would stay up until 4am in the morning to see Mike Tyson fight live on 'Pay Per View', there's just some sporting events, the Super Bowl is another you just have to stay up for.
I've stayed up for all or part of the night in the past for a few sporting events. But not too keen to do that these days. I'm too old for that .. stuff.
managed to catch up on game 1 now though. A little disappointing for one team (not going to spoil it for anyone yet). Hoping they do better tonight to keep it interesting.

That was a good game. Very pleased for the cubs but then also feel bad for the indians.. they wanted it just as much. Is it true that the cubs have spent a fortune on their line up recently and the indians have not had anything like the same budget?
But then Cubs has Bill f'in Murray on their side so they had to win one.
