So far, all I have to unlock is R.O.B. and something else, I just have to finish 150cc Mirror Mode, and both cup modes.
So far, Rob-Bls kart seems the fastest and my favorite with Wario.

R.O.B. is actually an accessorie for the SNES you could make him do things like move etc. He never sold much in North America, in fact he wasn't that all popular. No one has ever heard of him since, until Mario Kart DS.
