aerith!!?? what!?

why do people call her this!!!!!!!! aaaaahhhh it drives me crazy.

her name in a direct translation from japanese to english is earith!
they just have really bad translators... anyone else find it annoying when ppl say that?

If this is a pronounciation topic, then her name, in the English language, is pronounced Air-iss. I have no idea why people do that, although I have heard rumours that it makes her stronger or something.

Example-there is a new FF game that the main characters name is cosmo wich is with a clan called Meteor or a guy the loves fire-fidro.You best get used to these strange annoyng names because there are hundreds.The one name that bothers me wich isnt really about this topic but you problably know who-from Kingdom Hearts-Sora wich in spanich means Female Fox-Zora-with the Z.

No i figured this one out 2 weeks ago its our countrys language Japan spell it as Aerith and we spell it as aeris. in the movie they wanted to be able to send it to more coutrys by changing it cause in diffrent languages words mean diffrent things.

That is how her name is pronounced I don't see a problem with it.

And you are right the people do have funky names but the summons are named after gods from myths, Shiva, for example is named after the god of ice and the end of the world altho Shiva is a boy and Shiva from FF is a girl

But sometimes the strange name just fits the characters personality,thats what makes them a bit cool.About aeris maybe its spelled Aerith and it sort of the same thing when you say earth.So aeris is an Ancient,when she died she RETURNED to the planet.When she was one with the planet the planet use Aeris Holy materia to stop Chaos,dont know-sort of strange connections maybe.Aerith has to do something with her personality or like maybe her deed in this game.

Yeah the names do seem to fit the characters perfectly

But really why does the people call Aeris-Aerith,because in the game it says clearly AERIS.

Its a spelling thing kind of like how PH makes a F sound and not a P H sound

when the game was first released in the west, the early copies of the game actually called her "Aerith". but they decided it would sound better if it was spelt with an S.

this is because in the japanese language, "th" and "s" sound very similar. thats why some people call her aerith
