the save button neibourhood button and quit button are greyed out i cant exit the game save it or anything

[ALT]+[F4] might help. if it still doesn't work, [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] and force the game to exit (save 1st !)

Just press the s button, and it should save, or it might be shift + s
