Ok, well I decided to make a Guide to building a competitive team. Let's begin,
Step 1: Learning movesets
A very basic thing to do when constructing a team, is giving it the right moves. Below is an example oflearning basic movesets.
Starmie
Ice Beam
Surf
Thunderbolt
Recover
This is a standard Starmie(although it also can use Rapid Spin over Ice Beam or Thunderbolt), as you can see, Starmie is making the best of its Movepool. Surf is for STAB(Same Type Attack Bonus), Ice Beam/Thunderbolt is for Flying types, Thunderbolt hurts other Waters, and Flying. Ice Beam hurts Dragons, Ground, Flying, and Grass. Now you see Starmie is Water/Psychic right? Well lets see Starmies weaknesses.
Water: Grass, Electric
Psychic: Bug
As you can tell, we havent covered Starmies weakness to Bug. However, the only "threatful" Bug types are Heracross, Scizor, Scyther, and Pinsir. But this will be going on in another section
Step 2: Team Weaknesses
Every team has a weakness. Guarenteed. For example, lets give a random team
Blaziken
Hitmonlee
Hitmonchan
Sunflora
Jumpluff
Venasaur
Well, what is wrong with this team? It's packed with powerful and useful pokemon. But they all share one thing in common. They are all weak to Flying types. Even if they have moves to cover it, it's good to learn how to cover up your teams weak points. Below is an example of a Balanced team:
Zapdos
Vaporeon
Dugtrio
Snorlax
Weezing
Espeon
This is a balanced team. This shows how a team can cover its weaknesses. Zapdos is a Electric/Flying, and Electric types fall to Ground, but hes flying, so we can eliminate that. But he is still weak to only Ice and Rock type attacks. This is where others come in. Vaporeon can take the Ice Type attack since Water resists Ice. Packing Surf, the Rock type will be done with. Next, Vaporeon is weak to Grass and Electric. But exactly who can cover? Dugtrio can come packing the Electric types attack and not get hurt, and still KO them with Earthquake. Grass types can be taken by Zapdos since his Flying nature resists it. The list will go on. This shows how if you balance a team out and cover weak points it will aid you big time in battle
Step 3: Combos
Since in Pokemon XD, all battles are played Double Battle style, you will be guarenteed to use Combos at least sometime. Here is an example of a Combo.
Pokemon 1 Used Sunny Day!
Pokemon 2 Used Solarbeam!
This combo is called "Sunnybeaming". It allows Sunny Day to be in effect, and you can use Solarbeam without having to do the normal charging during the first turn.
Another combo here is called Thunderdancing, here is the scenario:
Pokemon 1 used Rain Dance
Pokemon 2 used Thunder
This combo allows Thunder to never miss while the rain is in play. It works great.
Mind Reader + OHKO
These combo's I hate, but hey, they work
This is a single battle combo:
Articuno used Mind Reader
Next turn...
Articuno used Sheer Cold
It's a one hit KO!
This combo I personally dislike, but it does work as you can see, Mind Reader will make the next attack 100% Accuracy, but they can switch out of it.
Endure + Reversal/Flail
I absolutly love it, so deadly. Here's how things work:
Heracross used Endure!
Swablu used Aerial Ace!
It's super effective?
Heracross Endured that hit!
Heracross' Salac Berry raised speed!
Heracross used Reversal!
Swablu fainted!
This combo shows how if you use Endure, to leave yourself with 1 HP when hit with an attack that would normally KO you. Salac Berry kicks in, then you can use Reversal, or Flail if you have that.
Belly Drum + Rest + Chesto Berry
Snorlax classic. Belly Drum, Rest, Chesto wakes you up, good game
Snorlax used Belly Drum!
Snorlax used Rest!
Snorlax's Chesto Berry woke it from it's sleep!
Snorlax used Body Slam!
Zigzagoon fainted!
As you can see, Belly Drum will maximize your attack, allowing you to be a god with Physical attacks.
Learning combos will aid you a lot. There are weather combos, ability combos, and item combos. See if you can find them all.
This will conclude my Guide for now.

This topic will remain open, for further disscussion, or help assissting me with the guide.
EDIT: Added more combos
