Do you think Football aka Soccer should be known as Football in the entire world?

I don't think it is right to call it Soccer in the US, it's just Football!

My opinion: Even though, I like American Football, I think Footbal is way better!

OMG yes.
Quite frankly American Football has no real assosciation of the player's feet and the ball.
It would be like us in the UK here calling Rugby like...European Football version 2 or something.
American Football should really be something more like...American Rugby seeing as they are more related to each other than Football and American Football are.
As for which one is better...No idea really cause I've never played American Football competitively.

Well, their pretty much the same to tell you the truth Kenny. So, what do you think American Football should be called besides American Rugby?

I think more on the lines of More of Hands and Less of Feet Ball.

Except for we already have a sport called Handball and it's brilliant!
Always played it in my Goalkeeping training and it was just awesome.

Yeah, Handball is pretty fun. Here in the US, I played it so it was fun.

Maybe Throwing a weird shaped ball....ball. Lol.

Well the thing is the shape of the ball is pretty much the same as that of a Rugby ball's so that wouldn't work.
Personally I'd rather it was called American Rugby because it makes more sense than American Football and also calling Football here Soccer. Just doesn't work.

Cause you know, you still gotta pass the ball within restrictions, you've still got the fast runners on the wings and the big brawlers. lol Can't believe I said that, but oh well.
I mean in Australia they did the smart thing of calling their own "version" I suppose as Aussie Rules.

Well, that would be a hard one I guess, but it should stay where it is for now, as it would be very confusing.

If it is pretty much American Football, then the new name is American Rugby!

It's kind of hard to describe, but you see how in American football they pass the ball forwards?
In Rugby we have to pass backwards as it were.
And see you have all the massive people come together in American football? In rugby that happens in Scrums, Malls and Rucks.

kickoff and field goals

but in a way I do agree with you,but really what else could they have named it

Football should be football and american football should be american football. Strange thing about the american football the "ball" they use its called a ball, why is it strange? Imagine a show called superball and the main picture is a ball in a shape of a lemon.

Well, I still think that American Football should have been named something else. Football is most often asumed to be Soccer.

To put it in the same perspective, for all those American-Football people out there, its like us calling Football, Handball, because we roughly touch the ball in football as much as you use your feet in American Football.

I agree completely about it being called American Rugby, too.

@Alexzander: in rugby, the ball we use is still called a ball.
@guy in oakland: likewise in rugby really. Kick-offs, free kicks if we want to, penalty kicks and for territory.

See so we should go and get together somewhere and tell them they have to change American Football to American Rugby!
