Union Room is the place in-game for 2 friends to meet and battle/trade or even chat if you have a wireless adaptor (NOT Wifi) hooked with your GBA. It can receive signal from up to 16 (as I know) people around you.

It eliminates the need of cable (and yet requires wireless adaptor) when 2 players want to trade or battle.
