Dear Friends,

I am sorry to disturb you, but I need your help, because I think you have more experience about PS3 connections. My name is Andrea, but I am also known as John Woodman.

Some days ago I asked for an ADSL2+ 20 Mb connection in my house... but I also need a router that can support both cable connection (PS3) and Wi-Fi (PSP). I am not expert about theese hardwares, and I ask you for help.

I was thinking about the SITECOM WL-547 model, but I am not really sure about it.

I really hope you can help me with some good hints.

Thank you very much, and sorry again to disturb you.

John Woodman

Hi Andrea,

Most routers these days I think will cater for both a cable and WiFi connection. Best option I think is to ask in the shop you are buying it from (unless of course you are buying online!).

Security options for the routers are pretty much standard these days too with WEP or similar encryption to secure your wifi.

Other products by good manufacturers include Linksys and Belkin, the one you selected is about ?100 and is in line with other similar products.

Good luck, and if you need further help, don't hesitate to ask.

Rich. Here is some advice(not trying to be rude...). Belkin= one of the worst brands for routers. Linksys and netgear are some of the best ones.

I would suggest looking for a net gear one. Most of them are 20-50 USD and most support cable and WiFi connection.

And if all else fails just ask at the store. (You take a big risk when buying this stuff online!)

Well now g33k if you are going to try to say Rich is wrong and you are right about the router thing, you should probably bring up some factual statements. Not just say it sucks. Rich being like 33 or something and a computer specialist I somehow doubt your correct.

Well, thank you to all of you for your kind help. But there is some things to have clear: first of all I live in Italy, and I don't think I can go to Wall Mart, I think it's a little too far from me... don't you think?
The second problem is the fact that I live in Italy. I asked for a 20 Mb connection, but I will be really lucky if it will reach 20% of the full speed. So I don't think I will need a so fast router like the one Mr. Twilight Warrior suggested me (Thank you anyway for your help).

Anyway thank you very mych again for your kind help.

Well to tell you the truth a couple of things:
1) I'm in agreement g33k about Netgear. I've got it and its brilliant. Very reliable as it only very, very rarely has issues.
2) When using wireless you'll never get the full speed of the stated speed of the router since signals being signals can be weak or have interference. When using cable it's fine, but wireless. You'll only ever get a percentage of the router's speed.
Status = Part Time.

Very good, I checked the Netgear, and it seems to be good. Well, I was thinking to connect by wire my PC and PS3, and use the WI-FI option only for the PSP and my mother laptop.

Wich model do you recommend to me? Anyway, thank you for your kind help.

Well in that case. Netgear. I have it and it has ports for Ethernet hook up (like 3 or 4 I think?) well anyway that should work for you.

And may you all find the Lord Jesus Christ,
