What's your Favourite non-Zelda or Final Fantasy RPG game for any retro system?

I like Illusions of Gaia, and Terranigma... both for the SNES.

I know, it's action/adventure, but most people still regard it as one. Chrono Trigger is awesome, too...

i never played any rpgs....but i will get the sonic one once it comes out....i played a final fantasy demo, and it didnt make sense

My very favorite would be impossible to pick, at the same time, if I had to it would be Chrono Trigger. I have at least 10 top favorite RPG games, which include:

Earthbound
Secret of Mana
Secret of Evermore
Illusion of Gaia
Terranigma
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire 2
and Breath of Fire 3

just to name a few.

I've been playing Chrono Trigger recently. I love it.

I'm really into the Suikoden games, but they're not for retro consoles, so never mind

I don't know.
A tie between EarthBound and Breath of Fire 2.
They're both have really awesome story lines.
But I know right after that would come Chrono Trigger.
There are so many good RPGs out there.

OK, Zelda is not an RPG, but, since you also exclude FF, I guess I'd have to say either Crystalis for the NES or Phantasy Star III for the Genesis/GBA.
