Don't keep shooting. Fire at the opponents in short bursts, unless a dual horn is coming. Watch out for cactuars aswell.

Exactly. But I upgraded my weapons a lot, so I usually just destroy the missiles and not deflect them.

I had that problem. And I hated it. But now I'm fine, although occasionally, I do get hit. And it hurts.
