Grenade Machine Gun? Teh sweet.
And it looks like we'll be getting an M4 in this game. Nice.

The Super Mutants don't look like they've changed much since F3 though... except for the cross dressing Mutant, of course.

It's a bit disappointing that they're taking a lot of the skins from Fallout 3 and recycling them, but at least they're making a lot of brand new ones.

Oh ho, and is that a Vault 21 jumpsuit I see? The plot thickens...

Not really, the doc just gives it to you. Doubt there's much of a story behind it.

Given that there were only 8 control vaults, I would say that yes, something did indeed happen in the vault. In the Fallout Fannon website, someone created a page for Vault 21, but I'm sure it'll be much different.

And Cyber, you're really saying that there's not much story behind a vault? A giant test tube disguised as a fallout shelter? There would be nothing interesting about that?
Surely the vault must be close by, or at least some vault(s).

...All he did was give you something to wear. He never mentioned anything and I doubt there will be a quest revolving around the fact that you were given a jumpsuit. It'll probably be involved somewhere, but not as anything related to the jumpsuit.

But why would they just give you a Vault Jumpsuit? It's not like it's armored or anything, it's not particularly durable, and it makes you stick out like a sore thumb, so there must be some other reason it's given to you.
If I were going out to fight someone, my friend wouldn't just give me a shirt unless there was a knife in the pocket.

BUMP with some updates.

- A bit more has been revealed about Hardcore mode. Apparently, with this mode activated, you CANNOT heal crippled limbs with stimpaks. Crippled limbs can only be healed with a trip to the doctor.
This will be a MAJOR factor. I remember how in Fallout 3, crippled limbs were more of an annoyance because of the abundance of Stimpaks. I healed it in about three seconds. With this, you'll need to be especially careful.

- Although it isn't confirmed, it has been hinted that Vault 21 will indeed be included in the game.

- Dinky the Dinosaur (Best known for its appearences in "The Wizard" and "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure") will be feature in the game next to a hotel of sorts. It has also been revealed that the player will be able to travel up to the mouth of the dinosaur and look out from it.

- On the topic of gun mods, it seems that each gun will only be able to hold a max of 3 mods, and these mods will be permenantly attached.

- While few details have been released, Obsidian seem to be trying to focus the game on worldly interactions, primarily with the various factions in the game (Probably including the New Republic of California, the Brotherhood of Steel, and possibly even the Enclave.)

That's all I've got, keep your eyes on The Vault for more news!

BUMP.

Obviously, with E3, lots of new details have been revealed, but I'll keep things short.

- Vault 21 does indeed exist in Fallout: New Vegas. It was a vault in which all arguments and disagreements were solved through gambling. Now, in 2280, it has been converted into a Casino.

- Also, we've got a new E3 trailer here:

- Lots of new weapons have been revealed, including a lever-action shotgun, a Bolt Action Sniper Rifle, and C4 Charges.

- No new info on Hardcore mode.

- In addition to the new "Companion Wheel" used to give commands to your followers, Obsidian has revealed that, similar to in Fallout 3, you can have one humanoid follower and one non-humanoid follower at a time. (Let's just see if the "Dogmeat Glitch" still works. Heh, heh, heh...

- Apparently, the main quest will take place on the side of one of the two main factions in the game (I believe they are the NCR, New California Republic, and Ceaser's Legion).

I think that all the information there is about Hardcore mode has been revealed. There's not a whole lot to it, you turn it on and it makes the game more RPGish.

The most interesting thing I see the trailer is that fact that there's the quick shot of the Vault that has greenery around it and a giant praying mantis.

The ability to use Iron Sights is a great addition over the useless zoom in ability in Fallout 3.

I'm not sure what vault that is. It's defiantly not Vault 21...

Yeah, you'll notice that ATM, the iron sights are sort of off, like you'll look down the sights, but the gun will be too low and you'll still have your redical. Obsidian has said that this is like the prototype Iron Sights, and the "True Sights" will be ready when the game is released. I also think it's a great addition.

I'm excited to see how big the Strip will end up being. If they try to cram all of everything into a Pitt type place where you can enter maybe 3-4 of the buildings and the rest are just there to take up space, it'll be rather disappointing.

From what I understand about the story is that you're trying to find out who killed you and are just coming into contact with the different factions and not just choosing a side. There are more factions but I don't know how prominent they'll be, I do know that the Brotherhood are returning.
Meh.

Thus far, they've revealed about 4 buildings on the strip you can enter. The "Vault 21" casino (See, I told you this vault would be built upon!), the "Tops" casino, a casino who's name I forgot, and the huge building where House lives, the main man in charge who won Vault 21 in a bet (House always wins, hur hur), took control of the strip, and hid away in his large tower that no one has been inside of in years. I'm sure there will be more, though, as there will almost definitely be more than 3 casinos.

The way the guys at Obsidian talked about it, the NCR and Cesar's Legion are going to be the two main factions, with a handful of other, smaller factions, and probably the Brotherhood, and maybe the Enclave making guest appearances. But the Enclave and the BoS won't be the prominent factions.

You said that the Vault would have a quest built around it and I told you that they wouldn't go that far into it, just make it a regular location. So I was right. Smile

According to canon, the Enclave won't show up since you destroyed all of the remnants in Fallout 3. The BoS is confirmed to be in the game, just as a lower level faction.
Meh.

They did so go into it! They gave it a back story, allow the player to go into it, and make it part of one of the main character's back stories! Plus, it's a casino in Vegas. How can they NOT go into it? Besides, Obsidian has said that all the Casinos will have quests around them. Guess what that means? I'm right, epic win.

The companion wheel is going to be nice, I always wished I could give Charon a slap on the head to make him use one of Stimpaks.

Yeah, I'm pretty pumped for this game(: Fallout 3 was beast, so I'm sure this new one can't be too bad.

As far as the trailers and screenshots go, I'm sort of happy they don't totally give everything away. Although I would like a little bit of gameplay..

Ohh well, I'm just excited for this and the new fable. Between those two, I should be set on video games for awhile(;

So, who's got it?

I'm kinda dissapointed in it, too much like Fallout 3, but not enough to be as good as it.
Less dreary, too much focus on the story, the story gets a bit much, and they seem to think that everyone has played their first 2 games.

I completely disagree.

Yes it's like Fallout 3, but if it wasn't, that'd be a huge waste of potential.
Personally, I haven't yet come across anything that required me to play FO1 or FO2.
And everything is varied and interesting enough to stay fun over time. This is only after... eh, 8 hours of play or so, but it's holding up quite well.

Well, for one thing, there's the super mutants and Nightkin.
There's also the NCR and Caesar's Legions, which they don't really explain fully.
As well as the Khans.
It doesn't require you to play the first 2, but it's a bit confusing if you haven't.

As for gameplay, it may be that I played 3 waaaay to much, but I simply can't get as enthralled by it, or get that same sense of amazement when I see the ruins of a city.

Another thing is the radio. That's really annoying. Songs are annoying, and the DJs are annoying. Simply can't listen to it.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, just not as good as I hoped it to be, or as good as 3.

Super Mutants and Nightkin. What's not to get? One is orange, and the other is blue and tends to be invisible half the time. I haven't gotten to the point where they explain the difference if there is one, but I honestly don't care. I shoot them and they die, the relationship is mutual.
Cesar's Legion and NCR are pretty well defined. The former is a group of slavers who want to take over Hoover Dam and New Vegas, and the ladder has it and wants to keep it. Pretty simple stuff, although I haven't gotten far enough to read in to that either.
And what about the Khans? They're a gang. Just like The Kings and the Powder Gang. Roll with it. If you really want to learn about them, they probably have plenty of backstory for you to go hunt down.
It's not confusing for me and I haven't touched any Fallout game other than 3 and New Vegas.

Well, that'd be a personal problem with it feeling too similar. I think this wasteland is different enough from DC. DC had that war torn feel to it, like the whole region was unstable and about to fall apart, while the Mojave Wastes feels like it's more settled and stable, just with a huge power struggle overshadowing it. There are tons of towns scatted across the wastes opposed to the 4 or 5 big ones in DC (Megaton, Tenpenny Tower, Rivet City, Underworld, and The Citadel are the big ones. If you really want to, you might also count Paradise Falls or Cantabury Commons), and overall, it has a really different feel to it, which is probably why you don't feel the amazement as seeing the ruins in DC. Because here, it's much more structured and orderly.

Dude, I don't know what wax you had in your ears, but the radio is awesome. Sure, Mr. New Vegas can't hold a candle to Three Dog, but he's a likable enough DJ, and the songs are excellent. "Blue Moon", "I've Got Spurs", "Ain't that a Kick in the Head?", "Big Iron", "Heartaches by the Numbers", and the list goes on. The songs are just as enthralling as they were in Fallout 3 (Although I was disappointed by the ommitting of "Sing, Sing, Sing").

I respect your opinion, but I think you're looking at this at the wrong angle by trying to compare it to Fallout 3. For all intensive purposes, just pretend it's a giant DLC for Fallout 3. It fixes a lot of problems, adds a ton of content, and goes to a whole new wasteland.
