I have always preferred it this way on games like this. I like being able to swap and change my characters without dropping the average level of my party down. I keep all of them within 1 or 2 levels of each other.

Yeah, I like being able to switch whenever you want (aside from when the character is being targetted).

I like to level 3 characters two levels higher then the other three and the change the team and level the other three two levels higher then the other three.

but you have the problem if all 4 of your chracters die and you're left with the 2 that are not leveled up alot

I just use a phoenix down as soon as I switch with the 4th person to bring back the other guy
