There is this wierd talking plant in Takakuras house can tarton what is he there for and do I need to feed him or anything. Also how do you raise your sons likes

Tartan is there so you can create hybrid crops. really usefull if you want to make more money with crops. and you don't have to feed him. for combinations to make hybrids read the Hybrid Crops forum, i hope that helps (also you will have to talk to him a while before you can hybridize)

well you can make hybrids after you talk to tartan for a while, he'll allow you to hybridize, and that just means give him to plants, almost any combination will work. you don't have to have hybrid crops they are just a better source of income.

to raise your sons likes just take him to the place
e.g. if you want him to like animals, take him to the barn, he will leave but he comes back on his own every day after a while

i read in the hybrid crops part that you can make an 'orahge' by combining 'orange' and 'gehju' but it didnt work...??
