I've heard of people growing things in basements. I'm confused. How do you even get a basement?

You have to get the biggest Expansion to your house first. Then call Gotz and there is a selection where it says "Basement." You can have up to 3 levels of basments. You need a Sun to grow stuff in the basement, which can be found in the Third Mine.

yea and if gotz is building it , make sure that before its done ,save and once you go out he tells you the basement is completed and gives you a sun , i got all the 4 suns but its safer to save everytime cause the suns he gives is random

But remember, basements can still be destroyed.

And its better to make them sturdy. If the first ones destroyed, so are the other ones. Basically, basements are underground greenhouses.
