Synthesis

Ok. I'm closing in on beating the game, but my synthesis is in the toilet. I have like 9/45 recipes or whatever. missing 4 pieces, and only have 18/50 collections complete.

I've gone through all 277 treasure chests and realized that this is not how you synthesize because there are just to many pieces. So where do I get them all? Specifically Spectacle or something crystals for ultima weapon.
