I'm stuck trying to cast the levitation spell in year one... I know, stupid right? But no matter how long I trace the arrow shape nothing happens... Am I doing something wrong?? Help!!!!!!!

I have the Lego harry potter years 1-4 on my ipod touch. I am on the forbidden forest level in year 1 and I use the dragon dung to grow the first grow spot but then I can't grow the grow spot in the swamp! Is anyone else having this problem or is this a glitch my ipod has? Where do I find more dragon dung?

I am on the chamber of secrets but I can not get past the snake with it's head and tail sticking out of the holes in it. I have tried to hit it but the magic goes on the wall. Once I did it I went on the path with the green line around it. I got on it and did a spell but it would't stay up for me to jump onto a different platform. I don't know how to. Please can someone advise...any help appreciated.
