'Supernova' is supposed to be a star's explosion, though some people say 'nova' for some unknown reason. Just use nova.

Actually, now that I think of it, I think solar and lunar are Latin words... So, how about the Latin word for star?

Latin? I'm great with Latin prefixes- hydro, pyro, electro, psycho, chrono, ect... but I can't speak the language.

Ever read any of the Artemis Fowl books? They are really good, and that's where Gnomeish comes from, and this particular word was the only Gnomeish word it ever tells you.
