As of now, Notch is making a "sky dimension" for Minecraft!
This started a bit ago, however he stated it was "ugly looking".
A picture of the so-called-skyworld.
It has been confirmed by Notch in this tweet on his Twitter.
"And because PC Gamer made such a big deal of the sky dimension, I guess I'll have to finish it. Consider it confirmed."

Personally, I think Notch should take most of the ideas from The Aether mod. I think it would make this a pretty cool area.
Also, here's an interesting idea on The Nether.

I would get on MC just to screw around in it. Haven't played that game in ages though. Probably couldn't even walk anymore.

I might. But the original reason I quit playing was due to a very bad internet connection. Have to wait for a very sunny day so it'll speed up.

You can play on my server if you want.
It's got pretty high speed, being a dedicated server. Which would help with speed somewhat.
Plus you can most likely walk around as see what's been added.
Or you could just download it from the site and play it on your computer, which doesn't necessarily require an internet connection in the first place.

Hopefully it's made into a whole new kind of world, like The Nether.
