In levels like Desert, Forrest and Hills etc, if you go into a small area theres like a huge bunch of stuff on a carpet and you can search there.
It says, 'I wonder if theres anything here' or something like that, then sais 'nothing found'
Is there a way to gather from these points?

i have tried to figure this out also from what i have gathered they are melnx (sry for typo) dens where if they take something from you they take it there and hide it. i believe you have to go there and take it back to get the item they took from you be searching that area
