Silver Rathalos - Ruby?

I have just started to speed kill silver los for rubys. I have killed about 5 so far so im not too worried i havnt had one yet. (Did get a hvy armour sphere though which was disappointing as i thought was a ruby )

anyway. Im using akantor bow with heroics and can kill one in about 7-8 mins. I am just wondering as i am using a bow and cannot cut off the tail i wont be able to carve one from it, if this will lower my chances.
However on monsterhunter wiki it says 7% ruby if i capture and 4% if i break head. I do both. I break its head and its wings, capture it when it limps.
Does this mean i have an 11% chance?

IDK why would it? since when did that help you. you need to slay it to get it maybe once the head it broken...

Ya, you can get rubies, I got one on my first kill and you dont need to cut off the tail.
But how in the world can you kill it in 7-8 mins.

cool, ive stopped atm, and im gonna start on akantor again soon as i need more of his materials for the armour.

What quest do you need to do to get the akantor?
And what weapons and total defence strength?

To Unlock akantor you need to complete these Quests:

Pink Dance in the Jungle
The Fierce Black Horn
Black Rock in the Swamp
Attack of the Rathalos (Azure)
Blue Sky, Pink Earth
Deny the Silver Rathalos
Find the Golden Phantom

For armour i use Full Death Stench S (80 def per piece)
For weapon im using Smolder Dragonsword.

With this i kill him within 30-35mins. So aslong as you have a strong dragon attrib weapon and silver sol armour (as i know your aiming for this) upgrade the armour to 80 def each or more if you want and you should be fine.

Akantor is actually a very easy monster to defeat. He is very slow, his scream is easy to dodge and you can tell when hes digging up cos the ground shakes or lava shoots up to show where hes going to appear, stay away from these. However do not underestimate him for a second, you do and your dead.

Yup, it should do fine, and you wont even have to worry about his screams. I find sharpening skill inc very helpful against akantor as you need to be attacking him all the chances you get, not wasting it on sharpening as it takes soo dam long

depends. If theyre weak to dragon then yes

What about things like Diablos and gravios.
Only good ice weapon i got is the crystalized tuna.

i dont use ice for diablos, i normally use TDS as that seems to work well too, and gravios i just sleep bomb lol, never liked him, but now i can bow him with akantor bow very quickly.

I hate sleep bombing. Reason I got no sleep weapon. I want to use a longsword and slice it to death, but it has resistance to all but water and i cant find any water longswords.

Get white mantis. But to unlock akantor, is doing Blue Sky Pink Earth solo even possible? Its like impossible man. I got Tigrex S full . . . But mix abit with normal tigrex armor. Total def is 377

thats the one im saving 4 last cuz it looks soo easy. Since i soloed both and they have less health it should be easier. Only thing i need is black Diablos

A good way to get Rathalos Rubies quick is to get your fate skill to 15+ then just kill as many Silver Rathalos as it takes. Your more likely to get them that way but always try to break the head as it's more likely in the rewards. You can capture it if you want but I never really do.

Oh ya that was the question, i still just need one more ruby to get full silver sol but it takes me 40 mins to kill it since i last tried.
But now I'm working on akantor armor.

I have full Silver Sol right now and it didn't take me that long but I had help. Best strategy -Bring 10 Flashbugs, 10 Bomb Material, and 5 Flashbombs with whatever you usually bring and just keep him stunned the whole fight. Break his head, cut his tail, do whatever you need to do but try to attack his wings with the TDS. You'll beat him and hopefully get the rubies usually within 10-25 minutes.
