Which car do you have now for Drift? It could be that.
Drift is a complicated race since it depends on a lot of things: the car, driver, driver technique, weight, tyres and the track layout. That includes slopes, camberous areas and so on.

I don't think it does really.
For reasons the assists it had in the game that weren't actually used in Drift:
Braking assistance: no point, you need speed to drift and to get points and big ones too.
ABS: you need a bit of lock up for you to lose the traction in the first place.
TC (Traction Control): again you need to lose traction.
Stability control: would interfere with the drift.
Status = Part Time.

It must be just my drifting, because I bought your Z4 blueprint davy, and it felt worse than the E92. I haven't played it in a while, though, because I can't beat Ryo and so I have little else to do. What I've heard of though is an "Energizer Lithium" upgrade pack which gives a hell of a lot of supercars, like the Porsche GT3, Bugatti Veyron, McLaren F1... I need to find a way to get that pack for PS3!!

It isn't being sold yet I don't think...
Anyways...I use a Nissan Silvia for my drifting and it's brilliant. Drifting isn't necessarily all about power. In drifting the only power you need to be concerned about is whether the car is applying it when you need it right.
It's more your own technique and how you shape your set-up to suit your driving style.

I actually bought a Cayman and it's pretty sweet for drifting, nice control and great power to match. On my test run with it basically the power did the drifting for me, I just needed to change directions. If this doesn't work against Ryo, then I am officially useless at drift!! Smile Oh by the way, I got over 6000 points on my test with the Cayman.

Actually yes it is, but once again the console owners are shortchanged for the PC users, because it's only released for PC so far and there's no word on any other consoles.

The power or the 350Z?
As I said before: as long as the power is being applied when you want it to.

Actually, I sold the Cayman and bought a Z. It has all handling parts, but I need some more power because it holds a drift for too long and I can't keep it straight at all.

Well when you want to stop it drifting you lift off all gas as in you stop pressing the acclerator button. And then let air friction help with slowing it down enough for you to straighten it.
In addition, (this is a general tip) if it is still drifting too much that is probably because your roll bars are too soft. Stiffen them up along with the Shocks, Rebound (dampers) and Springs.
In general stiffer suspension is better for everything even if the road is bumpy, but if it is so bumpy to the extent that it would make your car "jump" then you will have to either take a new line or really soften up your suspension.

I did stop accelerating but it just kept on holding the drift but changed direction at the last minute, which threw me off course. Never had that problem with any of the other cars I tested, stock or stiff...

That doesn't actually help, I was a master at the drifting in the Undergrounds, but Carbon and ProStreet have had completely different different drifting engines.

Well that's because they've managed to get it closer and closer to virtual reality as in a simlation kind that could be used to train new drivers. Except still not quite there.
Anyways....
It might be still the power of the car that's causing the problem...I mean the technological jumps between 2002 (Underground 2) and Prostreet (this year 2007) are massive. Hang....Where abouts is your CAM timing?
