I thought it was going to be something I've never seen before, but I've already seen people using the clutch for their launches.
In essence that's the original launch control if memory is serving correct.

Quick question. How long typically would you be using the brakes in that instance?

Have you noticed that on Infineon the start line is actually a few metres ahead of where your car is actually placed for a drag? I've gotten in the high 5's doing that. Oh and I've found that none of the extender cars are really decent for Drag, the best I found was the SL65 AMG, constant 8.1s. Even the Veyron isn't as good as I expected, low-mid nines.

I use the Pontiac GTO, not the '65, the new one, it has 998hp and my best time is a 6.4. I also would like to personally witness this apparent low 5's run. 'Till I see it, I dont believe it. I do the whole 1/4 mile doing a wheelie, the front tires never touch the ground because the car is accelerating so hard, and my 6.4 had to be attained with a 0.1 reaction time, and all perfect shifts. I find the 5's hard to believe.

Your car isn't wheelieing because of power -_-.

It's a glitch with stage 3/4 suspension, you actually get slower times with those suspensions cause of wheelies. If you use stock/1/2 stage suspension you'll probably get in even lower sixes, maybe high fives.

Quick pop in.
On the contrary that is one factor for creating a wheelie.
The other factor being the level of grip and how much the car squats due to the softness of the rear suspension (springs, shocks and rebounds).
There's no point in attempting a wheelie if you don't have these 2 things.
Albeit strictly speaking it's more the torque than power of the engine that allows a wheelie because the torque is the force applied to the axles.

That is true. In real life. This is NFS, which is not a simulation and therefore doesn't take ANY of that into consideration. Therefore, it is simply a glitch with the 3/4 suspension.

Sure enough, the stage 2 suspension doesnt let the car wheelie and took .25 seconds off my time. Can anybody recommend a good tuning setup for my GTO? I wanna hit high fives.

Mid-sixes? HA! The .25 off my time makes my times just barely over six seconds. Best run yet was a 6.12. K, here's a question, what systems is everybody playing this on? I'm playing it on Wii. I ask because I wonder about differences in the game from system to system. I read a post on page 2 i think, where someone was asking how to get control of the new GTO so it doesnt flip during drags. I've never had a problem with that. It drives straight as an arrow.

lvl 2 supension(because of course, lvl's 3 and 4 make the car wheelie to much), lvl 4 drivetrain and engine, lvl 3 nos, lvl 3 forced induction, even lvl 4 brakes, although on the Wii there is no brake in drag. It just helps your traction rating. I just recently started using the corvette just to screw around, and the times are pretty close, mid 6's, and I havent tuned it yet. I'll let you know.
