I dont know if this thread has been made already but im gonna make it anyway.
So has anyone thought about new starter types instead of fire-grass-water.
I've been thinking of one combination and thats all i have so far and it is
Fighting-Dark-Psychic.
Its basically the same as fire-grass-water.Fighting beats dark which beats psychic which beats fighting.

Psy doesn't even hit Dark.
Psychic gets the worst deal here so it would be regarded as unfair; It has to be fair for all types.
Without incorporating Fire/Water/Grass, fairness can't be achieved. Also, those three are the 'elements' that everyone used to believe matter was made from (excluding air) so it would be stupid to deviate from those types.

There are other "type triangles" as I like to call them out there. Poison/Grass/Ground, right off the top of my head, could be one. They don't necessarily have to be "elemental" to work. It wouldn't be stupid to deviate from the old standards. You know they're almost drained of ideas for the same old starters by now, just look at the past two Fire starters. They need some variety.

I think the original post had a pretty good idea, it doesn't have to be perfect to work. psychic is still a good type, it's not like dark and fighting are the only two types the sychic pokemon will be fighting, so I think it would work.

Yeah, I do like the Psychic/Fighting/Dark triangle, always have. Psychic has just as much influence as the other two do even if it doesn't affect Dark. It's not like the starter would only be able to learn Psychic moves. I'd like their final types to be:
Psychic/Fire
Fighting/Flying
Dark/Steel
With that idea, the Psychic starter would be able to affect the Dark starter.

Poison/Grass/Ground or Psychic/Dark/Fighting are the ones I would like to see most.

i cant really see a electric starter..piakchu doesnt count cause that was special.
No its because if this game follows in teh gym leaders footsteps rock should be the first gym battle and most rocks are mixed with ground so it would be hard for it to win.
But i can see

i'm sad its still fire-grass-water but honestly lets hope nitendo has common sense and makes unique dual types for them.

Fire-Dragon(like they say the pig ceomes the dragon..no one says that but anyway.Plus the water can learn ice beam to get over the dragon weakness.

Which would be kinda stupid, and i don't see why people are complaining about Fire/Water/Grass starters Nintendo isn't going to change it, that would be like changing Ash's pikachu into Rachui. Anyways this is what I predict for this Gen

Fire/Ground(maybe steel since then grass would have normal effect if it's ground)

^We've only had two started evolve into partial Fighting types before (the same amount as have evolved into part Ground types, with the difference being both Fighting starters are also Fire types), so I don't see what the problem is, except for a 4x weakness to Flying moves.
