Was it a normal 3-shake catch?
Also, those types of catches are crazy. I've done two...well, it depends on people's opinions.
In Emerald, I caught a Lv 70 Kyogre in a Premiere Ball, then did it again Against the Lv 50 Zekrom in N's Castle.

I caught him in a pokeball with the standard three shakes. Same for the other legendaries. Except Kyurem. Lv 50s vs Lv 75 is a bad idea.

I seem to get really random luck with catching Pokemon lately, I haven't had any critical captures, but sometimes (like when I attempted to catch Tornadus) Dusk balls, Ultra balls and Quick balls(when trying to catch Tornadus again) do nothing, even when the pokemon is on 1 HP and paralyzed or asleep.
Then I throw a pokeball, catches it first time, a lot of the time I just end up sat there like 'wat'.

I haven't been that lucky with catching any pokemon (not much so far, though). However, natures have worked out very well for me.
Pretty much all of my pokemon are either Adamant or Modest (except Petilil who's Timid, and Larvesta who's Serious). While my Cobalion happened to get an Adamant nature, Virizion was cursed with a Modest nature. ;(
I kind of hope this pattern continues, anyway. :3

My luck with catching any Pokemon has either been or really bad. Reason I'm keeping more Pokeballs in my bag then in the past games.

I've counted about eight critical captures so far. Aside from that, I've had some pretty good luck, even considering I'm chucking Quick Ball after Quick Ball and that's it.

I've had good luck catching Pokemon lately, especially with the Legendaries.
