tm 48 in the older versions is rock slide
trade a level 5 breeded rhydon from your game to the older version (delete any moves you need to) and teach it to him, then trade back...

make sure you diont have any pokemon or moves that werent made in the old versions, becaus eit wont allow you to trade if you do so...

as soon as you get rock lside you wont need thunder bolt for birds, thugh you will need it for water pokemon...
